We were cleaning out my FIL's file box today, & came across some old coins he saved. One was a 1922 Liberty Head "s" dollar, it was circulated but it's still in really good condidtion. Any one have any idea if it's worth anything? I tried looking it up on line, & kept getting referred only to e-bay, when only bids were made ranging from $10 to $149. Is there a coin value site somewhere on line? All replies welcomed.

A circulated 22-S Peace Dollar will have a retail value somewhere between $13 and $20 depending on the grade. Cleaning will decrease the value significantly, but at worst its worth $10.

I see I didn't give you the broader information you asked for. So I'll finish answering.
I like the valuation boxes as Heritage Auctions. Their web site is ha.com. It requires registration (which is free) in order to see them. Look at their price guide for, oh I forget, either advanced collectors or numismatists--not the one for beginners. Also on the archives pages for past sales, they include the values from Trends, Numismedia, and PCGS. These are updated monthly.
I also like numismedia.com. There you will find values for the major grades through EF-40 plus AU-50, 53, 55, 58, and MS-60 for free. This is updated twice monthly.
(I know both of them claim to be updated daily, but that has not been my experience.)
