They are very cool notes, PC! ::thumbs::

My father had given all his WWII money to my brother, who proceeded to get rid of it. I wish my father had asked me if I wanted it first, because I would have valued and saved the notes.  Oh well...

Are those trade notes? I know France had a hard time in 44 promoting a currency, and had their own "underground" currency.............Until Germany tried to stop it with their own. Vichy maybe? I'm not so hot on world currency.........nice notes.

The french note is dated 1944 that's when the US had control of france and these notes were issued to replace the old currency

The countersigning of the philippine currency was to pervent fake notes from being made

Unlucky for the engraver and the clerk they didn't live though the war, the japanese shot them along with other high ranking officals in bohol when they overran bohol in 1942, and many of their countersigned notes fell into the japanese army's hands, the japanese put these notes into use

After the war these captured notes were deemed worthless by the new philippine govt and stamped as fakes

Somehow this note escaped that fate and most likely ended up in a collection for 50 yrs

Till a guy i knew his filipino wife who is from bohol bought the note and brought it back

he then sold most of his collection off and that's how i have the note i bought it from him along with some of my other currency
