I saw the post on the US Forum about the thread rules which will be implemented from now on.

For a time all of the old Open Forum people were on this forum, but most of them are now gone.  In a way this is good and in a way not.  You could view the old Open Forum as New York City with all of it's problems, but with a lot going for it as well.  If it were New York, this forum would be a Maine fishing village, while there are not a lot of active people, it does havea charm and civility that New York could never offer.

I see the darksiders as the most civil and the smartest coin people on the internet, having them here would be a huge asset to this forum.

I'd love to have darksiders here. I don't quite know how to go about it, but I would love to find someone who would do up a member-owned forum here for those coins and currencies, similar to how Newbiecollector has done for his forum (My guess is that Newbie would at least consider modifying the name of his in that case).

Perhaps Wayne would consent to having his forum divided into a Lightside and a Darkside. 

If you would allow the Darksiders to offer to buy and sell directly in the Darkside forum and to link to eBay auctions and webpages offering coins for sale (as we do now on the PCGS Darkside), that might also help several of them make the move over here.

Hi - the linking and such is totally "allowable" in the member-owned areas. I, eventually, expect people in Newbie's forum to be linking to their ads in the Classifieds here. On a sidenote, I recently added a category in the Classifieds for off-premise auctions, so people can advertise their ebay auctions.

I would prefer someone different to run the "dark side" forum but you are suggesting a great alternative. I'll talk to Wayne. Thanks, Aethelred!

Yes, the purge has begun oner there. Coinguy1, Conder101, michael, and MikeKing have been banned (unjustifiaby in my opinion). So has Puff and a few others who were really asking for it.

Aethelred, I'm also going to see how to handle the auction link thing you mentioned by seeing if someone would run a B/S/T FORUM perhaps.  Allowing links within Newbie's forum isn't quite the same as having loads of B/S/T topics and I'm not sure it's a good idea to mix the two since that one forum can easily be overrun by BST type threads.  I think CU has it right in keeping the B/S/T auction stuff separate.  To complicate things further, I have to balance in the Classifieds.   The Classifieds get rid of the need to moderate the bumping situation and other problems and limitations the CU BST board has.

Comments welcome here or in PMs. 

But, things are open and I'd love to discuss ideas with people, so I'm writing this to help put feelers out.  If you know of someone who might be interested in running a BST forum (or a Dark Side forum to possibly be considered), do note that it is not a lot of work to run a forum and you don't have to be here a lot or anything (although they obviously have that option).  You just have to gradually, at your leisure, over time, work to improve it and keep an eye on it with me.

As for Conder - I saw his post.  All he said is that he wants to just lurk and not post anymore because if he posts he will surely break the rules eventually, basically disagreeing with the rules, etc.  Unless he posted some other stuff, which doesn't seem to be the case from what I am hearing, he was banned for just saying that really.  It seems to me that the owners are not really caring if the boards collapse because they are sort of like taking a hardball route to make the boards seriously different from what they were or just let them close up soon if it gets too annoying.

Conder registered here, so I hope to see him soon!  He has help me a lot in the past!
