I believe there are a few Canadian collectors here; they may just not be online right now.

I collect all kinds of Canadian coins and paper money, scrip, tokens, etc.  I also collect US, British and other world coins.  I haven't been collecting very much as of lately, but still have all the coins I've bought.

I can't forget to list the Canadian shinplaster collection I have.  For those who aren't familiar with it, it is scrip (a type of paper money) like they used in the U.S. during the Civil War.

I collect coins and money from my travels.  Romanian plastic money was my favorite before they joined the EU.  It's so purty.

They came out in 3 years 1870, 1900 and 1923. They were a 25 cent denomination.

Shinplaster was/is a slang term for these Bills, supposingly they used to stuff them in their pants to protect their shins against bullets.

Thanks for the info, Shimmy.  I have some of all three years, but haven't looked at them in years.  Don't want to even think about selling them though. :D  I love 'em!

I collect Canadian, only because I found a couple jars of coins and spent a couple hrs going through them. I completed the cents and am waiting to find a cool album to put my circulated nickels and dimes into, alot of the early issues are nice looking and are very nice, this weekend I am going to Barnes&Noble to p.u. my books that I ordered and may very well order some kind of historical or variation book.

Only because I have not been to a coinshow in the past 3-4 months  will I have to resort to this as my coin addiction is not satisfied. So if you have some post-em cuz I just love looking at the round orbs I really don't care about how good the pics come out. They cannot be any worse than Mr. Colin post. not that I am picking on his pics!::nsmile::

        Hey! any book suggestions?

I like the Guardmaster albums for putting my Canadian coins in.  They sell them at many dealers, but here is one, Brooklyn Galleries:

Shimmy, I went on a major archeological excavation for you tonight. Found my shinplasters and a bunch of Canadian Tire munny...lol.  I even found a banknote from the 1800's from my home town which I'll post on the U.S. forum.  I'll post the shinplasters as soon as I have a chance to scan them.
