I got tired of looking at a clean silver coin. No personality! I stuck it in a brown materials envelope and placed it on my monitor. It took about 6 mos. before a gold hue developed, then turning all silver in the place of gold. It was after the second silver that gold reappeared and began to take on color. I stopped it at about 1 yr. I didn't think to even the toning by equaling the time spent heads vs tails, so the obv. is more colorful than the rev. Your opinions are welcome. Call it AT if you want, I call it pretty. Mike

I agree. The toning pattern is questionable but beautiful also. Like a rainbow of copper tones...

I would have to consider that an NT coin.  Perhaps we could call it NT with intent.

That just about fits it.............but I still like the pictures!......and the reverse. I have a washington that was just begining to tone so I wrapped it in a Taco bell wrapper, I cannot find the stupid thing and its been about 6 months, probly be another 6 before I find it. Now THAT'S intent, I think it was a 1953 maybe ms 62 when I stuck it in the wrapper.::blush::..........jus shoot me!

I know we've been through this before on the PCGS boards, but I think "NT with intent" is an oxymoron.  If there's intent, it's AT, IMHO.

I think this is a gray area of numismatics.  The coin was toned by a natural process over a period of a year, that makes it hard for me to call it AT.

If you buy a white coin and place it in one of the old Raymond Albums and you know the history of those albums in advance, is the coin AT'd?  I don't think so, but that is just my opinion.

I love watching the colors change on silver!

What I have learned is that different coins

tone differently than other's.

Each coin has more or less ability to change

some cannot and will not submit to the

enviroment in a colorfull way. You have your slug coins

that will not do anything! But you also have gems that for

some reason they "just look nice". I do not know if these

coins are classified in say S,P,O. according to their ability to tone

and the dif years they were mined, that may be the key. WHO KNOWS!

But I will still submit each pc-o-crap coin to a dif hazard if not to only compare

but also to price..................and look @ in the daylight.............and enjoy.

Hey Mike,

Do you remember those 2002 SAE's I ouhgt from you and you sent them in that nice plastic holder with the black background? I think I bought 10 or 12 of them.

Anyway, I have given away a few but all of the others have been stored in the exact same place and only ONE has started to tone, non othe the others.

I consider that NT.................what do the rest think?

Enjoy the pleasure of life

Wayne

No question in my mind that is NT Wayne.  Funny that only one is toning, is it pretty toning?
