OK, I know it's beat up but still, it's not a coin one sees every day. ::pout::

You can say that again! What's the price on it? $4000?

Sumnom,

I'm not an expert on 1802 half cents, but before buying one, I'd be studying my reference books until I could attribute it.

Sumnom, that coin fits within my colonial umbrella so send it! :) Always great to see an old half cent. Thanks for posting it.

Actually, it's mine. I don't think it would go for $4,000. Maybe $400, maybe. I even doubt that.

$400?!!

I was seeing a reverse of 1800 which Red Book lists at $8500 in AG-3. I arrived at my figure by taking half of that for the damage. Perhaps it's more beat up in hand than appears in a pic.

I thought the reverse of 1802 was stemless.

No, it can't be...

I have looked at this reverse over and over again hoping it was 1800 but everytime I had to conclude it was 1802. I will check the redbook again.

Construct, you are right about the stemlessness but look at the styyle and position of the wreath. It's doesn't look like a reverse of 1800.
