Very nice detail on that Lib corn, Mr. Lee!  I'm partial to Buffalos myself in the nickel world.

As I posted on the World coin forum, I went on a major archeological excavation for my coins tonight.  In hunting, I found a banknote from the 1800's from my hometown, which I'll post as soon as I get a chance to scan it. :giantgrin:

I collect a variety of different US coins.   I have narrowed down my collecting interest to die varieties for Capped Busts Half Dimes (CBHD) and Capped Bust Dimes (CBD).

I have also started a 'Low Grade Type Set' where the point is to have ALL of the coins in the FR2-G6 range...

My area is U.S. classic type coins. Lately I've been looking for "better date" seated coins mostly--you know, the ones that look like they ought not to be too tough from the price guides but that you hardly ever see offered. It seems like nice seated coinage is getting a little hard to find. Originality and lack of problems is more important to me than the grade.

If all else fails and I just have to have a coin fix, I can always find a gold widget. I kind of like quarter eagle libs when that happens. They're a little more of a "coin" coin than the larger denominations. So it's a little more like coin collecting and a little less like gold investing.

I collect US trade dollars (esp. chopmarked), 20 cent pieces, and US type. I also collect Canadian, British Commonwealth, and other foreign coins.

I don't really have a big collection Hambone. Maybe about 30ea.+- MS64s and 4ea. MS65s.

Definately not a hord. ::chuckle::

My big purchase at the last show was an 1875-CC quarter in G-06. I ended up paying three times the price guide value for it, but I seldom see this issue offered for sale.

Yo Frank!!! Long time, no see (my fault of course) :giantgrin:

I've been paring down my collections to a more manageable level, and I've decided on the following:

U.S. Type Set (based on the Dansco 7070 Album to start with);

U.S. Half Cents by date, later I might add major varieties (working S-L-O-W-L-Y on this one);

U.S. Large Cents by date (also working slowly here);

U.S. "Middle Date" Large Cents (1816 - 1839) by variety ( slow here, too, due to costs);

and lastly, a British Victorian Type Set based on the old Whitman Classic Bookshelf Album.

My top priority is the U.S. Type Set right now.

I've also started a collection of U.S. currency, mainly the silver certificates to start with, and a small collection of foreign surrency that has no "method" other than "the note has to attract my attention", usually by the colors or designs.

All in all, I'm still a disjointed flake.  As usual :banana:

Hi Frank !!!

Yep, I really do like large cents the best, but they can get way too pricey, you know?
