Hello everyone, here is something I wrote up in frustration one day, maybe some of you can relate.

I see this unit like this, I am in a canoe and I am chugging away down the right path. I am alone, I am rowing left and right to keep straight, working hard to stay on the right course... I am alone, but I am efficient, I have learned what it takes to stay the right path, I row evenly down both sides of the canoe, I stay the course. I look to my left, coasting along in the not so distant is a tug boat loaded with most of the NCO's in this company, there in a larger boat of course (There are more people) but this boat is powered by a motor, no one is working hard to stay the right course, they are all in sit back mode, just riding current and their time to the end of the trip (Retirement). All of a sudden I feel a tug from behind... I look back, I see the back side of my canoe has a rope tethered to it... I look in the water and see the rope is tied to the big boat but it's going down the wrong course (I am attached to this unit)... I work harder to try to do the right thing, to stay the right course, the right path... For awhile I do a good job, I am able to keep the pace and stay the course... The NCO's in the other boat see me working hard, staying the right path, doing good... They realize they "Look bad" because someone close to them is going faster/further all by themselves... They start to chant bad motivation, accusations, and rumors to try to break my moral... I stay the course. Eventually I find my worst enemy... Time. Over time I become tired of fighting against the tide of the larger boat, against the rope that pulls me from behind... More time passes, and my canoe is pulled more and more to the side... Eventually I am exhausted and I collapse in my canoe... I am now tugged by the large boat down the wrong path, unable to resist any longer... I fail.

Opinions welcomed, just thought I would share... I know, I sound like a whiner right?  Oh well.

Ray

Hi Ray, great to hear from you. No, not whining at all. You are human, are you not supposed to have such emotions under such conditions? Seems so to me. Your story can be adapted to many different stories so I am sure many will relate, as I was able to. Hang in there - how many years left until your retirement?

Three years, ten months, 20 days... give or take a leap year :D

Every once in awhile I write something up like this to help explain to others how I feel. I will start posting them here so others can see what is going on in my life.

Hi Ray..............I think it's great you want to share your thoughts and feelings with us here at 24!  You're a hero in my book.  Your insights are important feelings that we need to hear, should be hearing.   You have more right to express your thoughts than any of us here Ray.  We all come by that right, you all are earning it!!  As far as I'm concerned, you can complain, whine, boast, or say anything you want!  I'll listen, and hear what your saying.  Hang in there!!  Many of us are keeping you and yours in our prayers.............

Hi Ray,

It's hard to offer an intelligent opinion about what is happening so far away and with only the talking heads on both sides to inform us.

While I can't fully understand your situation I do know what it is to be in the position of believing I know a better way (this is with respect to business) but lacking the power and authority to impliment things that will take us in that direction.

So I do the best I can in the little slice of the pond under my control and keep pressing my point in the process. Ultimately I'm not going to control whether the big ship ends up sinking, all I can do is be satisfied that did my best.

Your issues are much weightier then mine. I have to believe that of the tens of thousands you are not alone and while you and those others are still paddling there may still hope.
