Hello all, just thought I would share a tidbit of info that I realized a few days ago.  The Powers above have informed us that the Iraqi Campaign medal is now authorized bronze star device (Up to four of them).  Each star covers a certain time period of the war.

When I looked at my records to verify which tours I have been on (Remember this is my third tour) I realized I qualify for all four stars (I was over here at some point during all four phases).  This brought another realization to light... I have been over here since 2003!

My first deployment to Iraq found me in 2003 for 12 months bringing me home in 2004.  I then deployed back to Iraq in 2005 and did not return until 2006.  This tour I am on now deployed me in 2007 and I will not return until 2009.  In the end, I will say I have been in Iraq every year since 2003... Not something I wanted to put on my resume.

As the first tour, and followed on by the second, I take this tour one day at a time.  Though thankfully there isn't much action where I am at now, we do still see our share of chaos.  Over here I have learned to appreciate each day we are given on this earth as with each minute that passes, you never know how many more you will have.

Thanks for reading,

Ray

Thank you. It seems so incredibly inadequate, but just know that there are those of us back home here who are very, very grateful to you and those you serve with.

Thank you. It can't be said enough.

Words really can't express the thanks and appreciate we have for the tremendous sacrifices you, your family and fellow soldiers have made for us.

The medals are well deserved. They represent a lot of hardship, sweat and tears. Wear them proudly!
