I'm still working this, I at least got all the pictures take, I just edited them all (Cropped them down) and I need to upload them now.  Some of them, I don't know why I have them (I lost track).

Here is a picture of what I have so far:

Here is one that just came in today. I'm on the board of directors and we had these made for the organization to give out to special members and volunteers as an alternative to certificates and coffe cups. Forgive the terrible photography. The coin is in excellent condition and any blue looking letters are only the result of poor lighting.

BTW, if anyone is interested in a 101st Coin, let me know and I'll get some prices, I know they sell them at the museum on post.

This one was given to me by my sister.  She is a member of the Air Force and did a four year stint at the white house on the communications team.

We did a swap for a few coins, I got this one :D

That is a cool coin Ray!

I have a coin from the "Speckled Trout" aircraft given on the day it was retired from service. It was the plane used to fly the Sec of the Air Force all over the world.

I will see if I can get some decent pics/scans of the few challenge coins I have and post them.

I was just remembering, my brother who lives just down the road from you Ray, went up to tour the base with his son a couple years ago and was quite impressed with the professionalism of the people he came in contact with that day.

When he got home he took the time to write the commanding general a letter expressing his appreciation and respect for the people at Ft. Campbell. A few weeks later he received a thank you letter from the general along with his commanders coin. I thought that was pretty cool.

I've been personal friends with the commanding general of our base here for several years and still don't have his coin. Tthey aren't easy to come by ;)

You can say that again, some of these guys hold onto them like they paid for them themselves.

SCORE!!!

I finally managed to acquire the commander's coin from Edwards. I ended up trading the first coin minted of the Sheriff coin I posted earlier in this thread for this.

The obverse shows the shield for Edwards (similar to the unit crest in the Army) and the motto "Ad Inexplorata" which translates as "towards the unexplored" Interesting to note that the two cactus depicted on the shiled are Saguaro cactus which are native to Arizona and northern Mexico but not here.

The inner circle on the reverse starting at the 6:00 o'clock shows an aerial approach view (facing north) of Rogers lake bed (largest dry lake in the world).

The first aircraft is the Bell P-59, America's first operational jet aircraft and represents past test missions at Edwards.

The next one up represents the present with the F-22 Raptor.

Next up is the X-45 UCAV an experimental Unmanned Combat Air Vehicle representing the near future in aircraft technology.

The last one represents the unknown future of flight testing at Edwards as we reach for the stars.

Sometime soon I am going to get a few pictures of my CSM's office, he has to have 300 coins just layed all over the place.

Of course thats an easy task when your comming up on 30 years active duty.  Once you have a bunch of them and you display them, then higher ranks give them out like candy to help with your collection.

More later,

Ray
