Protesters Disrupt Hindu Prayer In Senate Police Remove Three From Visitors Gallery Who Shouted During Invocation By Hindu Clergyman (AP) A Hindu clergyman made history Thursday by offering the U.S. Senate's morning prayer, but only after police officers removed three shouting protesters from the visitors' gallery. Rajan Zed, director of interfaith relations at a Hindu temple, gave the brief prayer that opens each day's Senate session. As he stood at the chamber's podium in a bright orange and burgundy robe, two women and a man began shouting "this is an abomination" and other complaints from the gallery. Police officers quickly arrested them and charged them with disrupting Congress, a misdemeanor. The male protester told an Associated Press reporter, "we are Christians and patriots" before police handcuffed them and led them away. For several days, the Mississippi-based American Family Association has urged its members to object to the prayer because Zed would be "seeking the invocation of a non-monotheistic god." Zed, the first Hindu to offer the Senate prayer, began: "We meditate on the transcendental glory of the Deity Supreme, who is inside the heart of the Earth, inside the life of the sky and inside the soul of the heaven. May He stimulate and illuminate our minds." As the Senate prepared for another day of debate over the Iraq war, Zed closed with, "Peace, peace, peace be unto all." Zed, who was born in India, was invited by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, a Democrat. Speaking in the chamber shortly after the prayer, Reid defended the choice and linked it to the war debate. "If people have any misunderstanding about Indians and Hindus," Reid said, "all they have to do is think of Gandhi," a man "who gave his life for peace." "I think it speaks well of our country that someone representing the faith of about a billion people comes here and can speak in communication with our heavenly Father regarding peace," said Reid, a Mormon and sharp critic of President Bush's Iraq policies. Barry W. Lynn, executive director of Americans United for Separation of Church and State, said the protest "shows the intolerance of many religious right activists. They say they want more religion in the public square, but it's clear they mean only their religion." Police identified the protesters as Ante Nedlko Pavkovic, Katherine Lynn Pavkovic and Christan Renee Sugar. Their ages and hometowns were not available. © MMVII The Associated Press. Hinduism is a Luciferic based religion, its a kin to Masonics. Hinduism is an excepted religion of the elites for the global religion they are planning. It is monotheism that the elites hate and are working to destroy because it won't go along with the new world order...but hinduism works just fine with it. What sort of Blessing do we think we will gain in America when people are praying to God's enemy in the halls of power. Even so, this is America. We were built on the foundation of freedom of religion! and now you denounce it? I disagree with that, and while I don't agree with hinduism, I can respect their beliefs, if they want to believe that way, so be it... I think it was wrong to interrupt a prayer, that prayer could be sacred to the person giving it, he may not be praying to a real god, but he might think he is, and I am not going to destroy his belief system.

I hear what you're saying but here's the deal... Many of us know all about Hinduism and how it enslaved its followers. The NWO religion is base on Hinduism. It falsely teaches that God is everything. Even a rock. This is not the truth. In light of this I disagree with what you said about respecting their beliefs. Yes you can respect their right to believe what they want but you don't have to respect their beliefs. The USA is a Christian nation founded on Christian principles of which without you would not have the freedom to even express your disagreements of. Renee

Anyone who thinks the religion of Hinduism has anything to do with lucifer or the devil is clearly someone who has no understanding or knowledge of hinduism whatsoever. I am disappointed in you JBF, I usually disagree with you on many things but I usually respect your beliefs, not in this case. To even suggest the offering of a Hindu prayer in the US senate is somehow satanic shows gross misunderstanding, intolerance and bigotry.

Let me do the old switcheroo to your reply be answering a question with a question. Oh so you think I am mistaken ? Hinduism IS luciferic ?, What makes you think that ?, what did you research to come to YOUR conclusion, or is it just a strong feeling ? Ninja Also which sect or Hindu denomination are you refering to as being luciferic ?, Shaivism ?, Shaktism ?, Vaishnavism ?, Smartha ? or perhaps the more modern denominations such as Balinese Agama Hindu Dharma ? I appreciate the fact that you often agree with me but my point is made on a biblical basis... therefore, I am not out to win friends on this one ninja.

It is intolerance of beliefs that differ from one's own beliefs that cause many of the wars in the world. There is only one God and He has many names.

I ride the fence on this one, sort of............We do have freedom of Religion in this country! However, OUR GOVERNMENT along with this country were founded on Christianity. As far as I'm concerned, all other religions should be allowed elsewhere if they want, but our founding Fathers and our government agencies deserve the right to remain Christian! If the others don't like it..........................GO HOME where you can practice your religion. This is our country dammit! Do the extreme variations regarding His attributes & character between different faiths have any importance other than a simple name change? In your opinion, are all the different names and faiths pointing to the same God and leading one to the same God?

You have nothing to fear if they pray to a God that has no power in your eyes or heart. What do you think America means to all races and creeds? That is why the fighting is in Iraq, over differences of religion. The day we make ONE religion our State religion, as many would like, it is the day we fail to be free. Tolerance is American. But, remember that G.W. had his first PRAYER breakfast hosted by the unRev. Sun Myung Moon...and honored him as a Man of Peace. Sun Moon handed out literature on the Unification Church and many evangelicals walked out.
