I was in the airport yesterday in Philadelphia and I ran into a bunch of military personnel. I asked them their thoughts on the war and they acted like someone was watching them. It was really strange. 2 or 3 of the guys were barely answering my questions. Then I asked them to tell me if congress declared war and Constitutionally authorized the troops to be in Iraq and Afghanistan. One of the guys said no, the president did. I said ok, well maybe there is something that I missed. I asked him to tell me where the Constitution states that the president can declare war. He couldn’t answer and another guy said, hey I’m just doing my job. I asked him to further explain his views and he said I can’t. I asked why. He said I can’t say one way or the other. I assured him that I was not taping the convo. Then he said that he and his wife discuss their views, and that’s it. I asked him if the government was taking his first amendment rights away, and he wouldn’t answer, but said I’m just doing my job. Then I told him that most military donations went to Ron Paul, the only candidate that wants to end the war right now. He had no comment. I was really taken aback by this convo. I was sad for him and his group because they had no clue about the Constitution that they are supposed to be following, upholding and supporting. It appeared as though they were just programmed to take orders and not question anything. SHUT UP AND OBEY!!!

Thats pretty sad....and "just doing my job" don't cut it.

Good for you trying to talk to them.
