I believe there either ARE UFOs or our government does experiments they won't admit to.................or BOTH!   Years ago, my brother was flying a cargo plane to Alaska.  While in route, they noticed a large, "fast" object darting in their radar screen.  They asked permission from tower, to take a look, as this "thing" appeared to have landed.  As they approached, the object was gone, but a HUGE BURN spot was visible.  The tower started tracking as well as the flight crew.  Whenever, it went below radar, they could see where it appeared to touch ground, always leaving the huge burn spot!  Tower, notified the proper government authorities.  Within minutes, they shut down the entire North American radar system.  This is the system that protected  North America!  Nothing was ever  mentioned about it after that.  Now my brother is someone who doesn't believe in God, because he can't see him!  It's black or white with him!  Is or isn't!  He actually was shook up after that night.  He told me that for the first time in his life...........he believed there were things greater then us somewhere out there.  For HIM to have been unnerved by it, I knew it was true!  The discription of this "thing" was......Larger than ANY plane!  Egg shaped!  And almost glowed!

when my oldest daughter was an infant...we were driving along a highway and noticed cars stopping and pulling over...so we looked around and saw what they were looking at, so we had to pull over too....

it's interesting now...but both my husband and I recall it differently...he saw a cigar shaped craft, i recall it being triangular...but we both agree it was huge....just moving slowly above the side of the road...then suddenly several small jets appeared and the craft just shot off into space...

This was near to Offutt AFB in Nebraska.

never saw a word about it in the press.

I have seen UFO's on two occasions.

I have a thread detailing my first sighting on this forum.

Yes the famous Socorro sighting in 1964 by policeman Lonnie Zamora.

He is a link to a nice user friendly article about the case.

Thanks cynicalninja I'm glad your memory of the event was better than mine::thumbs:: I can't say I ever saw a ufo myself,  but for me its possible to believe in the unseen, because I think differently than most, The future is unseen yet yo can think into it and see possible scenarios of the end of your actions for example, so to me if you can look into the unseen and see perhaps this is a universal principle this is part of the reason I prefer to think in terms of possibilities and probabilities and likelihoods not to mention in so doing I extract my self from closed box thinking into a world of endless possibilities.

Of course there are UFOs, any unknown object in the sky would be a UFO.

However, it is a vast leap to say that because someone has seen an object and does not know what it is that it must have come from another world.

There are many reasons NOT to believe that life (or anything like advanced life) exists anywhere else in the universe.

Is that what you believe, Aethelred? That we are alone in the universe?

I leave room to be shown where I am wrong, but I see no evidence that suggests biological life exists anywhere else in the universe.

Really.  Huh.  I have always thought that with all this friggin' ROOM, it's awfully arrogant to assume it's all for us.  (Not saying you are arrogant.)  Naturally I don't have any proof that there is life elsewhere, but I have to believe it's there.  You're the kind of guy that likes absolute, unmistakeable proof, aren't you?  Me, I'm a Trekker.  (Or is it Trekkie?) ::rotfl::  Actually, I like proof, too.  But I like a bit of imagination, also.

UTR - I just don't think the science backs up the concept of life anywhere other than here.  This is one of those areas where I would love to be wrong, but the number of things needed to support even simple life is staggering.

BTW - I love Star Trek!:)

I wonder if it's ever proven that we are in fact not alone, we will still be alive.  I'd love to be around for that!!!
BTW - I love Star Trek!:)

Which series?  My favorites, in order of best to least favorite, Voyager, Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, then the original.

I definitely believe there is organic life on other planets, though that life may not fit our narrow definition of sentient.  Recently, a moon of Saturn was found to have the color signature of frozen organic material on the surface, and we all know the evidence of frozen simple-celled organisms existing on the surface of Mars.

Like they say in the movie Contact, if there isn't life on other planets, it would be "an awful waste of space."  Recently, astronomers located color signatures of chemical compounds called "polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons" involved in the formation of RNA, the ancestral genetic material of DNA, the building-blocks of life on earth.

Statistically, the likelihood of finding a planet hospitable for the birth of life may seem astronomically minute, but I would not discount it entirely.  God's power is Infinite, thus anything is possible.  Who is to say He did not encourage life on other planets?  I am willing to keep my mind open and wait for further evidence to unfold.

Ah, and I saw a UFO with my father on a camping trip.  I do not know if it was terrestrial or otherworldly, but I am inclined to believe it was from this planet.  It was triangular and dotted around the sky in strange, erratic patterns.  There was a group of 30 people watching with my father and I.  Nothing was mentioned in the news.
