Thanks Brian!  I was wondering if there was a society in the past that was more nocturnal, disliked sunlight, drank blood or did sacrifices ... something that grounds the myth in reality the way other myths are.

Seriously, is there any decent evidence that vampires at least may have been real?  I know Brian said there weren't but for some reason I still feel the urge to search sometimes.

Accordin to Laurence Gardner the myth of vampires has its origins in the 1400's a decendant of the House of David named Prince Vlad became known as Count Dracula due to his bloodline from the Dragon Kings and his favorite means of execution was impalement on the wooden stake which is the origin of the stake in the heart , I need to reread that its been years and some small details may not be exact.

I've actually read up on Vlad, I can see why the connection is there, but I never learned of his bloodline, especially claims that it comes from "Dragon Kings." I never heard of that - something fun to check out at least. :)

I do not believe in vampires but I do like their style. Paris Hilton is a social vampire. Chavez is a political one. Both gain power from their hoover-like abilities.:cool:
