I'm starting this thread because I think Saint is right I think this subject really was a good candidate. So everyone I would love to hear everyones ideas of what they think extraterrestrial life may be like, I myself think it would be much like us very diverse, perhaps more technologically advanced one some planets less one others, and seeking thier creator muc like most of us are. I think Saint has a great point that life need not necessarily be carbon based on other planets, I myself would not put god in such a limited box.

Any alien species could be infinitely varied, both in terms of physiology, culture, thoughts, emotions etc. It is however striking that the vast majority of eye witness accounts of aliens tend to be bipedal humanoids, with two arms, two legs, two eyes, two ears etc etc which if you think of the vastness of the universe and assume they evolved in a completely different way to us in a completely different environment seems an unlikely physical stereotype. In fact many ufonauts or aliens are almost indistinguishable from humans which hints at the theory of UFO's being time machines from our future or interdimensional craft that share the same planet but a different dimension. I believe life on other planets exist. But the time frame that they exist in could be varied. We have only been really interested in this kind of thought process for 2-300 years. To find life that is in our same sphere of thought and the same level of conciousness would be almost impossible. They would have to be way before us or way ahead of us. To find life on the same playing field as humans are today would be nearly impossible considering how old the universe is. We are less than a blink of an eye in the cosmic timetable of "life".

I think there's really no way to know what life on other planets is like. We can only take what life is like on our planet and extrapolate, and that's not always a good barometer for what life is like elsewhere. Having said that, if we were to extrapolate from what we know, then life on other planets is probably mostly microbial. It takes a long time for intelligent life to get going, so the most abundant life we'll probably find is primitive and non-intelligent. It would probably also be carbon-based (if you assume for the moment that we're average life, and that most life will be based on the same thing we are).

I remember doing some reading about what creatures would be like from other planets, where their gravity was much greater. The creatures drawn were very low to the ground. Anyway, I did a little digging and found a page I thought worthy, even though it was apparently written just for a game: http://www.spelljammer.org/essays/physics/gravityls.html Here is a part: A humanoid body is better at handling lesser gravities than greater ones. Planets with gravities higher than 1.2 have the following effects on people experiencing this gravity (assuming the person is from an EWS world where gravity is 1.0):
Reduced Dexterity (the muscles used to move the body for normal tasks are used to less resistance, and therefore tend to undercompensate for motions) Decreased Height (more weight means elastic supportive tissue is compressed more, resulting in a height decrease)
Stronger Heart Muscle (the heart works harder to pump blood upwards, and therefore strengthens; people with weak hearts or heart problems can easily suffer damage in a high-gravity environment) Blood Vessel Enlargement in the Lower Extremities (fluids tend to pool near the lower portion of the body; causes no damage, but causes the appearance of said tissue to show varicose veins, which is not particularly attractive)
