Some creepy stories in here....damn.  I have one of my own that changed my views on ouija boards.

A big party, late at night and someone breaks out a board.  I scoffed, but agreed to play along.  The group decided to start with basic things like seeing if it would reveal a name of one of the participants.  I had my hands on it, along with a couple of other people.  It moved to letters and did just what it was supposed to do, and I was still unimpressed.  When it came to my turn, I went with the crowd and told it to spell my name.  I watched as the pointer moved, and it went straight to the first letter of my name.  What caused my skin to crawl was that not one person there KNEW my real name.  I go by my middle name, and have since the day I was born.  When it went to an "L" instead of a "C", I went cold.  Everyone else thought it had finally failed.  I had to pull out my driver's license to prove that it hadn't.  We put the board away right then and there and I haven't touched one since.

We were never allowed to have a ouija board in our house so never had the mispleasure of using one.

Very interesting story UTR! Thanks for sharing that.

Ouija boards arent anything to be afraid of, IMO. If you're intentions or personality are evil, wicked, malicious etc, then you can expect those results.

Likewise, if youre a good person with no ill intentions, then I dont think there's anything to worry about. Yes, we had a possible possession episode as I disclosed above, but I've used the ouija board off and on for over 30 years and have not directly experienced anything like that before or since.

I'm no expert though, and as my story shows it's not a guarantee that nothing will happen. But 1 time in 30 years? Pretty good odds that there is no "expecting" bad results, but it might happen.

Well I guess that explains it, then.  It's all the crap I did in a past life coming back to bite me on the ass.

Thanks, Hambone, that was cool!

what? nothing bad happened to you LC....you were just startled because "something" knew the first letter of your first name when you didnt expect it. Thats not a bad thing. it's possible proof that there is something to this paranormal stuff afterall ;)

I believe that because the average person doesn't know a lot about the paranormal, they consider it to be mostly rigged (as it has been by many con artists in the past). When, however, they do find that there is 'something' there, their same ignorance tends to scare them away from it. In most cases, this is probably just as well.

Very true OM. Most people think they're a joke until they use one. then, they freak out when they (the ouija board) tells them something only they should know, as in the first initial story about ;)

Same here. My mother considered them bad/evil so I have that impression to this day.
