Summer 1983....school holidays, I was 10 years old and because I was on school holidays I was allowed to stay up late. My dad and me where the only ones in, my mother, grandmother and some friends had gone to the local village social club for a friends birthday bash. Me and my dad were watching boxing, it was about 10.30 pm, my mother came running into the house into the lounge. "Quick come on you've got to see this !, hurry up !". My immediate thought was she had had too much to drink and that this might be somekind of stupid practical joke (my mother has a strange sense of humour when she's had a drink !) Me and my dad walked outside, down the path into the street outside, my mother, grandma and some of their friends were all pointing and shouting at something down at the far end of the street. I jogged down beside them and looked down the road. My first thought was "The allotments are on fire", above the rooftops of the houses in the front street there was a huge orange glow pulsing, the kind of orange hue you can see being given off from a fire when you can't actually see the source of fire. "I think I'd better call the fire brigade, you lot have had too much to drink, has nobody thought to ring the fire brigade ?". my dad said. "It's not a fire.....its.........", my mother then began to point again towards the orange glow. An object about 40-50 feet across, about 15-20 feet high slowly rose up above the rooftops of the houses, it was hamburger shaped, flat bottom, curved top. It looked solid but seemed to be producing a bright pulsing orange glow from within it. it slowly hovered up and down above the rooftops. I looked down at the street and there werea few people standing outside their houses watching it, some were shouting, some were running away but most just stood there staring at it. I said "What is it ?" My dad said "I'm not sure". My mother said "its a UFO !". Then a low frequency hum could be heard, a hum you could physically feel radiating from it, the object then seemed to contract in size and then............flash, blink...............it was gone.....straight up into the sky...becoming as small and seemingly distant as one of the stars in a split second. We all went back into the house and talked about it, we considered phoning somebody, the military, airforce, police whatever but didn't really see the point. I didn't sleep that night I was so stunned. Then the following day....in the morning...in broad daylight....it happened again. To be continued.............. Last edited on 01:57 pm by cynicalninja |

I have no idea. I have gone through the various possibilties in my head, extraterrestrial craft (can't confirm that as the occupants didn't make themselves known), secret military craft (possible I guess but highly unlikely the speed it shot up would completely rule out a "human" pilot anyway), ball lightning (this is normally seen at high altitude and looks like a ball.....of.......lightning as opposed to a large pulsing orange hamburger), interdimensional craft (probably my favorite theory but again I can't actually confirm it), earth lights (possible but this was a SOLID object not an ephemeral floating light). So I have my theories but nothing I can 100% believe in. I know what I saw but simply have no real explanation for it.
