Now, it's been with me so long it almost seems like a real memory.  Like something that really happened to me during this life.  But it's not.

I've had the same mundane boring scene time and time again...

yes ninja it was mundane!

I definately believe in past lives. I believe I've had several lives. I remember certain aspects of each one, like ya'll said in dreams while I'm awake. Sometimes I meet people or something happens and I'll remember things from past lives.

so, does anyone else think that they've lived before?

Do you think it's possible?

Do we carry the same values from life to life, or can that change with each existance?

Have you had recurring dreams of the past and think therefore, it might be a repressed memory of YOUR past life?

Do you have fantasies of living at a certain time in the past, and if so, for any particular reason?

Yes.. I really do.

absolutely.

I think it changes.

YES

not so much on the last one.  I just feel like I've lived through a life before. Like I see certain people on the street & I swear i've known them forever. I get these feeling when I dream of certain things- sometimes I wake up crying because the feeling is so strong.

Yes. I have past-life memories, and will recover some more. I recommend the book "Have you lived before this life?" by L Ron Hubbard.

I have no idea if past lives are a reality....:dunno:

What I do believe is that we don't have any access to them in this life.  Under hypnosis, the human mind is very suggestible.  I think you can create the experience of a past life in someone's mind through hypnosis, without even necessarily intending to.

The thing that makes me suspicious is you always hear about people's past lives being the Queen of England or a nobleman or something.  I've never heard of someone whose past life was as a janitor or a peasant or stable boy.

I'm gong to swipe a term my sister uses and say I am a "militant agnostic" about this.  I don't know, and neither do you.  And you sure as hell aren't going to learn if you have or have not had a past life in some book.

As a scientist and mathematician, I have a tendency to agree with you, Brian.  But then there's my own experience which I can't explain. (See above posts)

Also, my experience seems to suggest that I was nothing more than a front line cannon-fodder soldier. Why wouldn't I bias my vision by making myself an officer?  After all, I'm an officer in the Air Force now. Wouldn't my subconcious be naturally inclined to make me the only kind of military man I have real knowledge about?

Then there's the subject of genetic memory. The DNA molecule is fantastically complex.  Couldn't certain pairs or combinations of pairs contain racial or ancestral information in the form of memories?

Beats me.

All I know is that after close to a half-century of life, I've seen a multitude of things that cannot be explained by my rather extensive scientific knowledge base. Things that defy the laws of physics and probability. Strings of connected coincidences that go against astronomical odds. From UFOs to ghosts. From visions to Navajo medicine men. From telekinesis to skinwalkers.

That's enough to make me absolutely positive about one fact:

I don't know everything, in fact I most likely barely know anything.

You bring up a good point:  Maybe it's just the "important" past lives that we here about in the media... ::scratch::

My thoughts are more along the lines that who we are in this life, is the only time we will ever be this exact person. But from research into what the writings of my Faith actually say, and conversations with people who have had near death experiences, my understanding has evolved somewhat.

From my conversations with people who have had NDE's, I've heard that once we've crossed over and experience that depth of unconditional love, we would never choose to come back, but that some particles (qualities) of what we once were may return and that memories may be attached to those particles. This also falls in line with what the Baha'i Faith teaches in regards to the prophets...that it's the qualities (or particles) that return.

So, no, i don't believe that I, the person I am now, has ever lived on earth before, but it's possible that some of my qualities have experienced an earthly life in the past, but I have no memories that i can recall.
