Do you think someone can be possessed? voluntarily? Involuntarily? is it always evil? Always good? depends on the spirit possessing the person? Can the possession be a purposeful one? like, to help somoene or multiple people understand something? I've seen a possession first hand once, when I was stationed in Japan. the person was a nonbeliever but was convinced after that that there is some weird stuff "out there". he was possessed by someone that didnt say anything, just wanted to stare at someone with very intense eyes, and he was holding on to somones arm, who happened to be much bigger physically that he was, and this person could not remove his hand from his arm. It was a very strange experience *which can be read about in the ouija thread*.

She started getting hysterical, couldn't catch her breath. They took her to the hospital, and she started talking about "People doing bad things and fires and dancing in the woods" Sounded to me like she may have been seeing some sort of witch craft. But I really don't know about that type of thing, so I don't really know if that's what was happening or not.

that sounds more like a post- or precognitive event, like she was seeing something from the past of that will happen in the future. but it could also have been a possession I suppose, but I dont know either. thanks for sharing!

I just don't know either. I don't know what a "possession" would look like. I think, when I saw this child, she seemed to be seeing what she was describing, at the time!

definitely sound pre/post cog to me Foxy. I think a possession is when another soul enters someone elses body, and the living person, the host, acts the way the possessor acts. so, unless the one doing the possesssing was freaking out, I dont think the host would have. but thats just me

it's not a profession, jsut an interest and "a hobby", i dont get paid for it. which is probably good....then it wouldnt be as much fun i think ;)

I think any "possession" comes from within the sub-conscious or Unconscious mind. Most alleged possessions have more to do with the mis-diagnosis of mental health issues, than actual possession. Easier for the faithful to say my brother was possessed by the devil by he was exorcised and is fine now, than to say my brother has acute paranoid schizophrenia and is currently in a secure mental health unit. I do not believe a person can be possessed and controlled by an external spirit, demon or entity.

you said "most alleged possessions have more to to with" misdiagnosis. What about the other "possessions"? not all possessions have to be by the "devil". Any spirit can possess someone if they're strong enough and want/need to. and it can be a good spirit I believe, not just bad ones like we see in the movies. I know you're skeptical when it comes to paranormal stuff, and thats cool. but, if you believe in the possibility of spirits/ghosts, then isnt it possible they can somehow use a person to communicate for them (that can be via talking, automatic writing etc)?
