The beginning of all things is the knowledge of God, and the end of all things is strict observance of whatsoever hath been sent down from the empyrean of the Divine Will that pervadeth all that is in the heavens and all that is on the earth.

This forum will be hosting many threads on what the Baha'i Faith is, but here are some core beliefs of Baha'is.

Many threads in this forum will discuss the things listed below, so I won't go into great depth here.

The teachings and beliefs of the Baha'i Faith

God is One - There is only one God, even if your language calls Him different words.
Religion is One - Most major monotheistic religions are part of One Faith founded by God
Mankind is One - no matter what the culture, racial heritage, etc -- we are one People.

There are several more "core" beliefs that come from these beliefs. I'm sure they will be discussed in great detail in the threads in this forum.

This forum is dedicated to the Martyrs of the Faith who have shed their blood in the pathway of God.

Introduction to the Baha'i Faith

The Baha'i Faith is the youngest of the world’s independent monotheistic religions. Founded in Iran in 1844, it now has more than 5 million adherents in 236 countries and territories. Baha'is come from nearly every national, ethnic and religious background, making the Baha'i Faith the second-most widespread religion in the world.

Baha'is view all the world's major religions as a part of a single, progressive process through which God reveals His will to humanity. The Founder of the Baha'i Faith, Baha'u'llah (1817-1892), is recognized as the most recent in a line of Divine Messengers that stretches back beyond recorded time and includes Abraham, Moses, Buddha, Zoroaster, Christ and Muhammad. The central theme of Baha'u'llah's message is that humanity is one single race and that the day has come for humanity’s unification into one global society. While reaffirming the core ethical principles common to all religions, Baha'u'llah also revealed new laws and teachings to lay the foundations of a global civilization. "A new life," Baha'u'llah declares, "is, in this age, stirring within all the peoples of the earth."

The worldwide Baha'i community, composed of people from virtually every racial, ethnic, social, economic, and religious background, is working to give practical expression to Baha'u'llah’s vision of world unity. We invite you to learn more about the Baha'i Faith and benefit from the spiritual and practical insights found in the Revelation of Baha'u'llah, God's message for humanity in this day.

In keeping with the Baha'i view, let us all remember Abdu'l-Baha's admonition:

However, as moderator, I think I should probably start off by expressing this thought:

"Now is the time for the lovers of God to raise high the banners of unity, to intone, in the assemblages of the world, the verses of friendship and love and to demonstrate to all that the grace of God is one."

To my mind, we are all lovers of God, and should all adhere to this sort of a standard.

While I appreciate the discourse of opinions that will undoubtedly go on here, I don't want the forum to ultimately resemble lawyers in a trial going at each other-- point, counterpoint, rebuttal, etc.

Let's keep in mind that the ideas we're discussing here are things that we EACH believe in to a very deep degree, often with years of prayer and study.

Please respect that fact, and do not, with your post, assume that someone doesn't _really_ believe what they do-

Faith is a sensitive issue -- Let's all try to remember that as we post in both this forum and the Religion forum. God would never want any of us to be hurtful to one another.
