"Tu Nombre es mi curación, oh mi Dios, y el recuerdo de Ti es mi remedio. La proximidad a Ti es mi esperanza y el amor por Ti es mi compañero. Tu misericordia hacia mí es mi curación y mi socorro, tanto en este mundo como en el venidero. Tú verdaderamente eres el Todo Generoso, el que Todo lo Sabe, el Todo Sabio." -Bahá'u'lláh

"Thy name is my healing, O my God, and remembrance of Thee is my remedy. Nearness to Thee is my hope, and love for Thee is my companion. Thy mercy to me is my healing and my succor in both this world and the world to come. Thou, verily, art the All-Bountiful, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise." -Bahá'u'lláh

Marcelle does this one in French.

I know the common melody to it---

I remember there being a recording someone had done (Paul Parrish?) in a rather Windham Hill kind of flowing piano solo, with the prayer being sung along with that--

I've NEVER been able to find that solo piano and voice version on any recording...

Sirlarme, do you think Marcelle would be willing to record herself singing it and post it here?  I would so love to hear her!

:smitten:

good idea!

speaking of which....would you be willing to record yourself singing it in Spanish and English and posting it here as well.  I would so love to here you!  :heartbeat::bigwink:

O my God! O my God! Unite the hearts of Thy servants,
and reveal to them Thy great purpose.
May they follow Thy commandments and abide in Thy law.
Help them, O God, in their endeavor, and grant them strength to serve Thee.
O God! Leave them not to themselves, but guide their steps by the light of Thy knowledge, and cheer their hearts by Thy love. Verily, Thou art their Helper and their Lord.

My God, my Adored One, my King, my desire!
What tongue can voice my thanks to Thee? I was heedless, Thou didst awaken me.
I had turned back from Thee, Thou didst graciously aid me to turn towards Thee.
I was as one dead, Thou didst quicken me with the water of life.
I was withered, Thou didst revive me with the heavenly stream of Thine utterance
which hath flowed forth from the Pen of the All-Merciful.

O Divine Providence! All existence is begotten by Thy bounty;
deprive it not of the waters of Thy generosity,
neither do Thou withhold it from the ocean of Thy mercy.
I beseech Thee to aid and assist me at all times and under all conditions,
and seek from the heaven of Thy grace Thine ancient favor.
Thou art, in truth, the Lord of bounty, and the Sovereign of the kingdom of eternity.

O Thou kind Lord!
These lovely children are the handiwork of the fingers of Thy might
and the wondrous signs of Thy greatness.
O God! Protect these children,
graciously assist them to be educated
and enable them to render service to the world of humanity.
O God! These children are pearls,
cause them to be nurtured within the shell of Thy loving-kindness.

Thou art the Bountiful, the All-Loving.

Hi,

Of course we can and do.  :D

"The most acceptable prayer is the one offered with the utmost spirituality and radiance; its prolongation hath not been and is not beloved by God. The more detached and the purer the prayer, the more acceptable is it in the presence of God."

(Compilations, Lights of Guidance, p. 455)

We just have an abundance of prayers for every occasion, given to us by One we feel speaks for God.  And while perusing them, we discover that the prayers He's given us, speak the words of our hearts perfectly.  :heartbeat:

All--

Amy posted earlier a verse

"My God, My Adored One"

There is a traditional melody set for that, which Baha'is sing often.

Here is THE most fantastic version of that I've ever heard in my life!!

Rachel Price , Emily Price, and their younger sister, singing at the Southern Regional Baha'i conference in Nashville TN, in 2003.

I had the great bounty of being about 25 feet away from this-- INCREDIBLE!!

This was sort of impromptu, I think, after their father finished directing the Voices of Baha in performance.

They first did "Veiled in My Immemorial Being (quote below)

http://wnc.bcca.org/bahai/music/veiled-in-my.MP3

and then

http://wnc.bcca.org/bahai/music/mygod-myadoredone.MP3

This is THE most incredible version of that I've EVER heard done...

I might add that Rachel Price is a professional jazz singer-- she has appeared across the country, and debuted at Clemson University with T.L.  Monk (who some of you may know as a legendary jazz artist following in his fathers' footsteps)

O Son of Man! Veiled in My immemorial being and in the ancient eternity of My essence, I knew My love for thee: therefore I created thee, have engraved on thee Mine image and revealed to thee My beauty.

Turn thou unto God and say: O my Sovereign Lord! I am but a vassal of Thine, and Thou art, in truth, the King of kings. I have lifted my suppliant hands unto the heaven of Thy grace and Thy bounties. Send down, then, upon me from the clouds of Thy generos

This is AWESOME, Sirmarle!  I used to sing in a Bahá'í Gospel choir and Oh! do I wish we had done this one.

So, when are you, Marcelle and I starting a group???

Perhaps you should borrow one of Sirlamre's Bahá'í prayer books and read them?  I think you will find they are quite beautiful and assist one to acquire spiritual qualities.

Britt, Sirlamre has given/loaned me a number of Baha'i related books over the years.  I am sure I know more about the Baha'i Faith than 99% of non-Baha'is.

The more I learn about your faith, the more problems I have with it, reading more Baha'i books will not bring me closer, I am a lost cause dear!:)

ah! but we have a few catch-all prayers for just such an occasion.

for example...
