It really is paradise for anyone with a bike, whether you like off roading or cruising. Our motorways are wonderful. Not mile after mile of endless straights, but good roads with sweeping bends and scenery that changes dramatically every half an hour. You can be on the coast at 5pm and in the Sierra Nevada mountains by 5.30pm Even the mountain roads are great fun, but you really have to be on the ball, as it's very easy to get distracted by the magnificent scenery and go straight off the road on a hairpin corner. And of the course, the weather is pretty much always condusive to a great ride. As far as off-roading goes, we take the little bikes (250's) which are easy to throw about and you don't worry about dropping them so you can be as adventurous as you like. And there are pretty much mimits as to where you can ride. We usually just keep riding til we get to some water then take a break, lounge for a while and head off again. The mountain riding can be a bit hazardous in in cooler weather, as the clouds drop very quickly to cover the roads and hangs mysteriously above and below you as you navigate. Trying to decribe the effects of having the clouds above and below you but riding through a crystal clear patch of road one moment, then dissapearing into it and the way it takes your breath away with it's drastic change of temperature for a few moments is something that you really have to experience to understand, and something I would recommend to any biker to experience. This probably gives you a better idea about the off-roading aspect. The first pic, hubby is looking out across the hills to the sea (lousy photo, so you can't actually see the sea from the photo, but it is there.
