This seems to have been happening more and more frequently with our dog, although she is otherwise perfectly normal.  Not seeming ill at all.

Today, I decided enough was enough, bit the bullet and took her to our local vet.

Apparently, (especially when fed with dried food), if food is left available all day (ours was).  They eat during the heat of the day, then naturally in this weather drink a lot more than they normally would.

The food swells quickly inside their stomach to such an extent, that their systems reject it.

We were advised that our pooch is perfectly well, and that all we need do to alleviate this problem, is, during the hot summer months, make the food available once the heat has subsided in the cooler evening, and remove it again the following morning before the day becomes hot again.

Had her Annual jab at the same time... 27 euros for one injection that covers all the necessary innoculations - including Rabies.

I'm glad she's okay, and curious, is "free feeding" common over there? I

would never do it, although I know there are those who do. It's my feeling

that a dog should eat a meal within about ten minutes of putting it down for

them.

You're really lucky she didn't get "bloat" (or gdv, gastric dilatation volvulous)

where the stomach flips over, very serious!

I'm not sure of the conversion rate, is it 3-4 Euros to the dollar? In any

case, doesn't sound like your shots were too expensive...

I'm glad to hear your dog is ok, Pussycat.

I could never "free feed" my dog either.  He is a pig and would eat until he threw up or became very ill.  He doesn't know when to stop.
