My aussie household is going to be fixing turkey and all the trimmings for this evening. We arrive at Thursday before you lot!  And celebrations will be perpetrated out of solidarity with American friends and hic... because aussies never can resist an excuse for a party.  I baked a pecan pie last night and it's looking good.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

Happy Thanksgiving to you LC and to you Cars!!!! Wish I could zot over and say it in person!!! The turkey is in the oven now as I type, it's not a whole bird this year as there will only be five of us - including one small person. I'm just heading into the kitchen to sort the vegies. We managed to get hold of some actual clotted cream to go with the pecan pie. From the renowned (and pricey) dairies of King Island, off the Tasmanian coast.

That little bear, Cars, belongs to my youngest, Romy. It stalked her in New York, followed her back to Oz, then accompanied her to England where she and her brother have immoralised (sic) him/her/it in a short movie, which I understand will be screening in the States next year. Statue of Liberty Bear may of course now be in France with Romy, where the original Lady of the Harbour came from. Who knows?

It was yummy, LC, even if I didn't have jean-yew-ine Texan pecans as the recipe called for. Light karo and I went easy on the added sugar so it wasn't too sweet. Put in a bit of vanilla. Turned out nice and moist, slightly runny caramelly sauce.

I do sometimes fix pumpkin pie. LOVE that too, though it shocks aussie and English visitors. They cope admirably with pecans - but are accustomed to eating pumpkin as a savoury baked vegetable, not in a sweet pie.

Have a great day.

PS I still wear those socks!!! My Poughkeesie girlfriend gave them to me.. very special. And tasteful..
