Thankyou Friend, I hadn't seen that. Did see that Paris dimmed even the Eiffel Tower recently. I'm not sure if any other Aussie cities will be following suit. I'll have to check. Have any American cities turned off their lights?

Turn off Sydney's lights and the fruit bats (and maybe a few vampires and catburglers) might just have a field day. Grin. But it's in a good cause. Good night to view the sky too. Usually there's way too much light to see the stars.

Thats pretty sad, darn UN Agenda 21 pushers.

I guess one could say " Turn out the lights and turn on the slavery"

To each his own, but I was actually thinking more of :

"Turn out the lights and turn on the pajama party"

One of my friends living outside of Los Angeles said they had a planned "brown out" or reduction of flow two days ago.  Interesting idea!

What does a "brown out" entail, Britt? I know what a "whiteout" is? (That's when I get in off the ski slopes, pdq).

That's when the electricity flow is so severely reduced that the lights cast a brown glow, if you can call it a glow.  It's sort of romantic, except your PC can't run on it.

Earth Hour in Sydney was a bit of a  fizzer.  A few lights went out in honour of what Cate Blanchett described as "thoughtful darkness", but there were a couple of footie matches on and mega stadiums blazed away. The Harbour Bridge apparently dimmed a bit.

Most people just carried on in normal Saturday night mode,  probably  in honour of what they would have described as  political incorrectness had they been aware there was anything going on to be politically correct about.

Interesting thought, though.  Too bad there was such a low response.
