Turn thou unto God and say: O my Sovereign Lord! I am but a vassal of Thine, and Thou art, in truth, the King of kings. I have lifted my suppliant hands unto the heaven of Thy grace and Thy bounties. Send down, then, upon me from the clouds of Thy generos

Just dont replace the food. Eventually they get the idea and eat instead of play. Be careful not to give too many snacks during day. Children who are not hungry usually dont behave well at the table.

And never make a big deal out of having to eat every thing on the plate. If they are hungry they will eat. If not , then you are just training them to be overeaters.

Kids tend to go through phases where they will eat everything and then more and then the next week they wont eat half thier food. Its a normal thing. Just watch what they eat between meals and dont reward them for stuffing themselve by bribing with rich deserts.

I cant tell you how many times I have seen Parents tell thier kids that if they dont eat all thier food they wont get any desert.  If the child is hungry and the food is good they will eat.  Desert should never be an issue. Some days we have desert and some days we dont. Its never a reward.

After a child gets to a certain age it becomes appropriate to punish for playing with food or throwing food on floor. But if the child has proper discpline in the rest of his home life then meal time should not be a problem

This is excellent advice! ::thumbs:: A friend of my husband's did the exact same thing when having problems with the child throwing food on the floor, and it worked like a charm.  Good advice also about not making a big deal of having to eat everything on the plate. You get and A+ for today! :bigwink: :)

I agree!  roymerr, you definitely get an A+ for sound advice.

Your advice to not replace the food was particularly excellent.

Bravo!

My daughter never threw food but my son did. Whenever he did this, I quietly said, "No, we do not throw food."  If he did it again, I swiftly removed him from the chair.  Generally, he would then wail to be put back in the chair.  I would oblige, and then take him out again if he threw food once more.  After four times of this, he finally got the message.  He never did it again.

I come from a very large family. I have seven brothers and two sisters. Mealtime was always one of the best times of the day.

Always lots of talk and laughter but tempered with manners and politeness. I miss those days alot.
