Lots of my friends just call themselves, "natives.":)

My best friend, however, calls himself an "Urban Navajo"  since he was completely raised in the city, does not speak Navajo, and does not participate in any of the traditional ways (other than some cultural taboos.)

You know, this brings to mind a problem I had with the approved curriculum textbook for English 9.

As I looked through it, I found that almost every story had some kind of political, multicultural, or racial agenda.  For my part, the stories weren't only boring, they were a little sneaky because of the hidden agenda.

So in night school, (where I get to pick my own curriculum textbook) I chose a classroom set of English 9 textbooks I got out of a dumpster 15 years ago.

They are full of regular "cool" stories like Sherlock Holmes, Edgar Allen Poe, and Alfred Lord Tennyson. No agenda, just the good old stories that we all grew up loving.  Guess what?  The kids love 'em too! They tell me the stories are much more interesting and exciting.

I still have to use the "multi-cultural" ones during the day, though.

No problem, you are not butting in. "Native Americans" seems to be for the most part the favored term, but before the Europeans, there was no America, so how can they be considered "Native Americans"?

They can be called Native Americans if one thinks of them as being native to North America. After all, they aren't called "Native United States of America citizens". If Asia were to have had a huge European immigration, perhaps there would be people who called themselves Native Asians.
