There's been a cultural shift resulting in kids being more violent and I have little doubt that adults condoning and enabling children to watch and get entangled in very violent material, including video games, movies, and TV. fuels a great deal of it.  It desensitizes them, it makes it seem more OK, it teaches, even if indirectly, to value life less.  This is all reinforced by the fact that adults are sending out the invisible signals (signals they are wired to received and absorb) that it is AOK.

I believe we let kids do, see, and get involved in more adult-like things than ever before and I think video games, movies, and TV are a big part of that, and I do think it leads to more problems.  Kids are wired to be sponges, they are built upon the signals they get.

That being said, Saint wrote:

Yes you do, you can yell that.  You just are responsible for what happens.  Freedom is all about being free enough to make mistakes or bad judgement calls, but being held accountable for them.  I am free to let my kids play or see lots of violent crap, but then I am responsible for contributing to the community having kids desensitized and more accepting of violence.  I should keep that in mind the next time I go to complain about kids being more violent these days.
