My method isn't always the most comfortable. I would say that your daughter isn't running the show. If it's time for her to transfer to her own bed than you and your husband need to step up to the plate and give her 2 options something like:

"You make the choice tonight honey, do you want to sleep in your own bed or outside with the dog?"

" It's your choice, would you rather sleep on top of the roof of the house outside tonight or in you own bed, it's your choice, which one do you choose?"

" Mommy and daddy think your bigger now to make your own choices...so...would you rather sleep in your own special bed or sleep outside on the grass with all the bugs and spiders?"

I am sure she will make wise choices. ::wiseman::

Amy wrote: My kids never slept with us...they always had their own crib/bed, in their own rooms.  We always had the monitor turned on in case they needed us though.  The only time either of my girls climbed in bed with us is if they woke up with a nightmare.

I think it's hard to break once it's started, so wouldn't recommend it to begin with.

 I agree here....My kids only ever slept in my bed when they were ill during the night.

This is slightly off topic. But last night on "America's Funniest Home Videos"....

the winner was a video about a man trying to put his child to bed.  The child (under a year old) was screaming in his crib, the dad would open the door and tell him to go to sleep, at which the child just continued to protest loudly.  Then the dad decided to put a wig on and pretend he was a woman, and opened the door and told the child in a feminine voice that it was time to go to bed.  The child said 'okay' and immediately laid down and was quiet.

When they awarded them the prize, he asked the father why he had tried that, and he said the child never protested with the babysitter or grandparents only with him and his wife, so he just thought it was worth a try, and it worked, so that's what they do every night now.

  ::LOL::
