It really is sad to read this type of thread and even sadder when the first caveat they put on finding an answer is "don't talk to me about religion."

This is the thread I'm talking about http://forum.physorg.com/index.php?showtopic=3044

Sad's a good word for it, DesertRat.  What a lonely, lost existance it must be to think that everything you do, everything you say is just a transitory blip.

How much easier to deal with the vagaries of life to have faith, to believe. How much sweeter the good fortune, how much less the pain.

Even I wasn't sure that Jesus exists and that life continues after death (I am now 100% positive of that thanks to an "after-death experience") I would still lean on religion to give my heavy heart a break from the stress and heavy testing of life.

I also agree. What a hopeless, empty, pointless world view. Very sad indeed.
