The Apostle Paul said in Romans 5:9-we shall be saved from wrath through Him. The Apostle Paul who is also the Apostle to the gentiles also said in 1 Thessalonians 5:9, "For God has not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ." Jesus adds to this regarding the coming Great Tribulation on earth by saying, "Pray always that you may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass and to stand before the Son of Man." Luke 21:36

I pray (ask) not just for myself, but also you brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus that we all will be accounted worthy to escape these things that are shortly going to come to pass on this earth.

Jesus said, "Take heed that no one deceives you."

Matthew 24:4

Could just me my narrow mind, but I have never seen an "End Times" connection to this verse.

OK, I see "wrath" as an escape from judgment, I think the use of "salvation" in the same verse sort of supports that view.

However, I know I am in the minority on this, so there is plenty of room for me to be wrong.

It could also have a dual meaning as so many verses like this do, so in that regard it could well be a reference to both.

The text comes from Paul's 1st letter again to the Thessalonians who we see have been a little discouraged by some trials and tribulations we see in 1:6. Paul comforts them and reminds them to wait for Jesus from heaven who "delivers" us from the wrath to come 1:10. Paul further reminds them in 3:2-4 regarding the fact that they will suffer (tribulation in context of trials and difficulties but to not lose heart because as believers we are appointed for affliction v3:3. Then Paul advances into chapter 4 telling them not to sorrow about those who believed and have passed on v 4:13 Paul telling them that The Lord will decend and we will meet Him and our dead loved ones in Christ in the air and forever be with Him. Paul tells us to "comfort one another with these words" v4:17

Then last regarding the day of the Lord to comfort one another again and edify each other v5:11 because when they say peace and safety? Remember what Jesus said in Matthew 24? When Israel says, "Peace and Safety THEN wrath will come upon them?

But God did not appoint His church to His wrath but to obtain salvation. We are not in darkness like the world and Israel that this day will take us as a thief.

Let us >WATCH and PRAY. :)

One last aspect of God's wrath here for your edification. Where is the church prior to this passage other than in heaven singing the song of the redeemed as we see in chapter 5 of Revelation? ::wiseman::

Revelation 6:12-17
I looked when He opened the sixth seal, and behold, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became like blood. And the stars of heaven fell to the earth, as a fig tree drops its late figs when it is shaken by a mighty wind. Then the sky receded as a scroll when it is rolled up, and every mountain and island was moved out of its place. And the kings of the earth, the great men, the rich men, the commanders, the mighty men, every slave and every free man, hid themselves in the caves and in the rocks of the mountains, and said to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of Him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! For the great day of His wrath has come, and who is able to stand?"
