Hello,
I would like to graciously ask for your help. I have done some research but I figured the best place to get quick answers would be here?
I would like to know what and/or who the name "Trinity" means to a Christian please? I have read some definitions online of the concept but they seem to be confusing to me!
Thanks
Helen

Hi Helen,
Thank you for asking here, I'll do my best to answer in a nutshell:
Christians believe that there is one God who consists of three distinct persons, those being 1. God the Father, 2. God the Son (Jesus) and 3. God the Holy Spirit.
This is a difficult concept to grasp (for me at least), but the three members of the Trinity should not be viewed as three gods, but rather as one God with three parts.

Thank you for that answer and please forgive me if I ask something that offends-it is not meant at all.
I am particularly interested in this concept of three living as one? Can you explain that a bit further if possible? I would like to know why the 3 you described above are "separated" (which I realise is totally wrong term...erm.. help ) and to what purpose?

Great question Helen!
1 John 5:20 And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding, that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.
Matthew 28:16-20 Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had appointed for them. When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some doubted. And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.Last edited on 05:15 am by JustifiedByFaith

Thank you. Can I ask then the main "point" here was to emphasise the dual nature ie He was their with them but also would be "to the end of age"?

The Trinity Godhead is "Deep" to say the least Helen. God the Father thru Jesus the Son made all things and all things are by Him and for Him. He is the beginning and end. He will be everlasting...

I don't think I will try and explain the Trinity because I would probably insult the true meaning. The Holiness of our LORD is so far above my understanding that I do not believe that I truly understand "Trinity", but I will offer a link if you care to look it over.

It is a matter that confuses some of the smartest people in the world who have spent a lifetime thinking about and studying the issue...I don't stand a chance of grasping it!
