I will give examples both biblical and modern day as this thread progresses.

What's your take on the modern church body of Christ? ::scratch::

Is it Holy Spirit driven or a lot of fleshly indulgences?

Is the Holy Spirit being quenched today in the body of Christ?

Were the Apostle Paul's examples of how to get together, spread the church, fellowship, worship and break bread now outdated and in need of modernization?

Yes I agree.  The church has lost it's fever.  Watered down.  It's my passion to do my part to help people understand this.  The whole name it and clam it stuff is so not of God.

well JBF, this is a really sensitive subject for me. I wont rant and rave but I am very displeased with the overall state of the church, but more specifically on the cell groups issue--I like it; it's very intimate and more interactive for questions, comments and thought sharing

but bg, what if in the event you ask questions you step on some toes?  Don't you think that questions could case division?

bg,

The closer more intimate aspects of small groups has also been attractive to me. I think it offers the body to naturally become more "real" and less plastic towards one another... so that we may pray for, confess and encourage one another in the faith through the good and bad in our lives. Also, the gifts of the Spirit seem to have more freedom in such environments and the Spirit is less apt to be "quenched" I think.

Once again, our church body is on the move. This is the fifth time we have had to re-locate from buildings. We typically rent/lease and have a small group (typical 10-20 families) typical of Calvary Chapel.

It is very "early church" style to be mobile like this and I find it to be very comfortable.:D

Others of course, seem to have security in a building or place they can can call home. I appreciate the different viewpoints, yet God travels because we who are in Christ travel and we are His temple where He dwells. The body of Christ is a building made without hands.

See: Acts chapters 7 & 8

There are benefits and drawbacks to both situations. God uses both.

There is something to be said for stability as long as the stability doesn't turn into stagnation.

There is something to be said for flexibility as long as the flexibility doesn't turn into chaos and confusion.
