This is a true story that happened to me 10 years ago today. It was written about probably 9 years ago and here is the story. It was June 8, 1998. My house had been sold, all of the belongings in storage and I was waiting for the new owners to arrive. All that was left in my house were a few belongings that I was going to take with me. Many people asked me, "where will you go?". My response to each of them, "I don't know, God will lead me somewhere.". It was about 10:00 am. I had been awake all night talking to some people in a chatroom and I was tired. The phone rang. It was the manager from a hotel where I had accidentally left my mother's blue Bible at about a year or so before. He was near Houston (my town) in a small town called Humble. It is about 35 miles northeast of Houston. Good, that will be the direction to start in just as soon as the new owners get here. It wasn't long before they arrived and I was off. It all kinda hit home when I got to the corner. I could turn right, turn left or go straight. The only way I couldn't go was back. The whole world was waiting for me. I had a couple of errands to run, going by the bank, getting a new registration for my explorer and things like that. It was about 3:00 pm when I finally made it to Humble. I retrieved my mother's blue Bible and I was back on the road. The traffic going back to Houston looked pretty bad and the last thing I wanted to do was get tangled up in the Houston traffic at about 4 pm. I headed north on Hwy 59. Can anyone see how directions are being given to me? It gets a lot better. I stopped at a roadside park about an hour or so later. I hadn't slept the night before and I was tired, falling asleep at the wheel. I tried to get some sleep but if you have ever spent a summer evening in the hot Texas sun, you will understand why sleeping wasn't very easy, so I drudged ahead north on Hwy 59. I have never in my life been given a field sobriety test and on this day, I was given my very first one. Having been falling asleep behind the wheel, I can sure understand why I was pulled over. The officers realized that I was indeed just sleepy (which I woke up real good just as soon as I was pulled over). They told me to go to the next intersection, turn right and there would be some motels on the right where I could stop. I was on my way. I turned right at the next intersection and looked to my right for a motel. I saw nothing. I continued to drive, it was still light out and It wasn't too long before I saw a sign that said "Welcome to Louisianna". I let out a big chear as I passed that sign, I had never been to Louisianna before, and I continued to drive and was hopefully leaving some past behind. Soon it was dark again and I was falling asleep every so often. My wheels would hit the side of the road, make a noise and I would wake up. This went on for hours, I never once saw a place to stop and sleep. It was somewhere close to midnight when I was again woken by the sound of my tires. I woke up. This time I was halfway across the Mississippi river bridge. No telling how long I had been sleeping. I never even saw the lights on the bridge from a distance. These lights can be seen for a couple of miles. When I got across the bridge, I was in Yazoo City, Mississippi. I pulled over at the first open gas station and went inside. I needed to look at a map and see if I can figure out just where God is leading me. If I kept going it would be possible to be in the Smokey Mountains. That would be a nice place for God to lead me, so I thought. I went back out, filled my explorer with gasoline and got back in my car. I fell smooth asleep. I guess it was about 30 minutes or so the man came out from inside to see if I was okay. I told him that I was sleepy and he pointed down the road and told me to go up the hill and at the top, there is a hotel. I drove up the hill. I did not see a hotel. I looked all around and found nothing, so I continued. If you have never driven through Mississippi, here is what their roads are like. They all head either north and south or east and west. I was going from the southwest corner of Mississippi to the northeast corner if i was planning on going to the Smokey Mountains. I zig zagged across the state for the next few hours, turning left, driving awhile then turning right and driving awhile. I dont think I really had a clue where I was at. Sleep was also still a big factor. One time when I heard the tires and woke up, there was a road sign right in front of me. I tried to miss it but i hit the side of my vehicle, hit the right side read view mirror and crashed it through the passenger side roll up/down window. I remember it was about 4 am and in the distance I saw lightning. Great, I can barely stay awake, I cant find anywhere to stop and sleep, I crashed a window and now it is going to rain. There is nowhere out here in the middle of nothing that will be able to repair this window. I continued to zig zag across Mississippi until the sun came up. It was about 8 am and I pulled up to a red light in a little town. As I sat at that light, I looked down the street to my left and I could not believe it. There was a sign that said autoglass. I can get my window fixed, so I turned left when the light turned green. As they were repairing my window, I looked down that street even further. It was lined with hotels and motels on both sides. I got a hotel room and slept for the better part of 2 days and then spent the next 6 months in that little town... Tupelo, Mississippi

That is quite a story! I would have pull over to the side of the road to sleep for awhile. I can't believe you didn't hit someone and cause a terrible accident, or worse yet kill someone. I think you not only had God directing you........he was riding with you!
