This is something that never ceases to amaze me, and troubles me deep down inside. I want to see as many people as possible in Heaven. I do not wish to see even one person die the second death, though I know it will be. Why do so many people refuse to accept Christ? It's not like they don't know of Him. Billions have heard of Him, yet very few accept Him as their Saviour. Why is this? I know that for me, before I accepted Christ, I did have trust in God, but somehow couldn't make the connection that Jesus was the Christ because I saw in history how many people, supposedly Christians, had slaughtered in the name of Christ. But fortunately for me I realized that this is not what Christ did, or even wanted, so they were not representing Christ. After I got over this hurdle, it was much easier for me to see Christ and I willingly gave my life to Him. What other excuses do people have for purposely rejecting eternal life? Do they think this life is all that exists? Do they think that even if there is something after this life, it certainly can't be as good as this one, or maybe it doesn't matter? For all those seemingly good people out there who know of God and know they must give their lives to Him in order to be saved, why do they constantly reject Him in mind and in deed? Why are people so short-sighted, greedy, selfish, uncaring, power-hungry, dishonest and treacherous? Do people really believe they will get away with their sinful lives? Do they really think they can stand up to the Lord Almighty in the last day? What excuses will they have when they face Him? My prayers are with my brothers and sisters so that we might be able to stand. Please help us God! Amen.

Jester, Great post. I think one problem we have is that when people say "look what Christians have done in history" we fail to give them an informed answer. I don't mean to offend anyone, but in the vast majority of persecution committed by Christians, the Catholic Church has been the guilty party. I believe this is true in well over 95% of the cases of persecution by Christians.

1jester, I'm going to pose a different alternative to your question, if I may......... I think the reason a lot of people don't except Christ or the whole idea of God and religion, is because we've become a scinitific world. We're taught black and white! If you can't prove it, it isn't!! If you don't see it, it isn't there!! We're taught this in school. Back when families were close, and prayers were said at the dinner table after a hard days work, people took the time to be thankful. As soon as the family, marriage between a man and woman, teaching reading, writing, and arithmetic in school all became second place, our values and thoughts changed to except a more scientific world as well............... Once you need answers for how God exists, and you think you have answers for how all things are..............you start to question Faith and Deliverance.

fox, It doesn't matter what were taught. I was raised in a agnostic family. God has revealed Himself to mankind in Jesus and His invisible attributes are clearly seen by the things that are made. When man looks up into the stars on a clear night and God speaks or watches the creation in action and suppresses the beauty and awesome artwork of the Creator and say's " Time and mere chance"... then One is accountable.

As a non-believer, I'd like to give you my perspective on it. This should not, of course, be construed as an explanation of all disbelief everywhere. I come at it from a very specific set of circumstances. The biggest hurdle there is to belief, in my case, is the whole idea that an amniscient, omnipotent being would create the world as it is (or allow the world to become what it is). See, it's fairly easy to describe the things that human beings do to each other as a result of original sin in a fallen world. What's not so easy to do is to explain the bad things that happen to people that have nothing to do with free will. There are some things in life that just happen, without anyone in particular wanting them to. Anything that can't be blamed on a human being is God's responsibility, plain and simple. When a child dies of cancer or an older person dies a slow death to Alzheimer's Disease, if God runs the show, then that's God's work. Multiply that by all the other tragic things that happen to people in their lives, and you get a sense of why some of us have trouble believing there's a benevolent, omnipotent deity running things.

Billions have heard of Him, yet very few accept Him as their Saviour. Why is this? Nature is a dynamic process, so Creation is dynamic in essence. Storms, tides, supernovae, etc., are natural processes and the universe is not meant to be placid. Life is a dynamic process and it ends in death. God is eminently just we all live, and we all die-absolute justice. I don't understand blaming God for how Creation works when it is meant to be a furnace of life. How much better it is to take the life we are given, live it as responsibly as we can, and give it back to Him Who gave it. Regards, Scott

You seem to be thinking that the universe is in some ways unjust and that a just God would not allow such an unjust universe. Am I right?
