One of my many favorites...

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the LORD with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.

It's the, "Lean not on your own understanding" that I often find the most difficult.

Jesus said, "Take heed that no one deceives you."

Matthew 24:4

Here's a set of verses that I try to remember daily. What a difference thses simple words have made in my life.

Matthew 6:25, 31-34

25 "Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?

31 "Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

Danny,

I also hold dear to those. With the recent death of my younger brother and my step-dad going in for multiple cancer tumor removal surgery I too have learned to not lean on my own understanding on these matters. I know God will either intervene or allow things to happen as He sees fit. Today has enough troubles of it's own for all Christians. Problems in life are opportunities for us to lean on Jesus and draw closer to Him and often that's right where He wants us. Those words spoken by Him are great comforting reminders arn't they?

Indeed they are comforting reminders. I've learned that while it is important that we plan for tomorrow we are not to worry about tomorrow. In Matthew 6:11 Jesus said "Give us this day our dailiy bread" ; He did not instruct us to ask that we be provided what we need tomorrow or next week or next year, but only ask God to provide for us that which we need "today".  "Sufficient for the day is its own trouble." Amen to that. Each day we are faced with trials and tribulations and with Gods help we can persevere each day. Why waste the day we are given worrying about tomorrow when tomorrow may never come. The glory of our Lord's return can happen at any moment so let's focus on today.

God gave us an example of this concept when the Israelites were wandering in the wilderness after their exodus from bondage in Egypt. Exodus 16 tells us how God provided the Israelites with their "daily bread" in the form of manna. He admonished them to only gather enough to feed them for a day and those that gathered more found the mana rotten and full of worms the next morning. God provides for our "Daily" needs and if you really think about it, for us, it is always "today".

Psalms 118:24 -  This is the day the Lord hath made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.

Now may the God of patience and comfort grant you to be like-minded toward one another, according to Christ Jesus, that you may with one mind and one mouth glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. :)

Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

--Colossians 2:8

Teach me thy way, O LORD; I will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy name.

--Psalm 86:11

As for me, I will call upon God; and the LORD shall save me.

--Psalm 55:16

Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. -Matthew 22:37-39

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

55:11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth:
it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please,
and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
