I think one of the greatest deceptions is the old phrase: "Heaven on earth".

Humanism and New Age put's one's trust in "self-effort" instead of Jesus who is the only Redeemer of man and our Prince of Peace.

This doesn't mean we should just sit and watch everything fall apart, but we are commisioned to preach the gospel to this lost world not fix this world. It means we do not put our treasure and hope in ourselves or the things of this life. This is not our home, we looking for our Savior and our hope is in Him and our heavenly home not made with hands.

Those who trust that mankind will change for the better, become good and care & love one another by self effort... have a good cause, with a tragic ending.:verysad:

The bible teaches otherwise...::wiseman::

Matthew 24:12

Jesus said, "And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold.

2 Timothy 3:1-5
But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!

Conclusion:                                                                                       Psalm 118:8

It is better to trust in the LORD
Than to put confidence in man.

I trust in the Lord to give mankind the wisdom and direction to take care of themselves.  "God helps those who help themselves."

I've found in my life, when I sat around feeling sorry for myself, things got worse. But when I straightened up and got off my "pity pot" (as my mother called it)  things just seemed to go my way. Sometimes in unbelievable and fantastic ways, almost miraculous coincidences.

That's when I felt the hand of God in my life the most.

That's it Saint...:bigwink:

The enemy is right there saying, "You loser." "God has forsaken you."

He is also there with his lies and deception. He also lies to people in the world saying, "You don't need God, you can do it all by yourselves."

This lie is Humanism.

John 15:4-5

Jesus said, "Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.

It's very hard for people who live NOW, to not try to better their lives in hopes of a better future HERE.  I can see being a good person, is who you should be regardless.  I can see that believing in Jesus and that he died for you, will help you to be that good person.  I can see that becoming all of the above, would give you peace here, and everlasting life, after here..........

What's hard for me to except is not caring about the now, shrugging my shoulders, and telling myself that it doesn't matter because SOME DAY I'LL BE IN HEAVEN.  If I am to think that all the crap you're dealt here, is ONLY to teach you how to be in Heaven..............It could make a person wish they weren't born to begin with.

The message isn't, "Don't care" Fox. The message is "Trust in Jesus not self." The world goes on and on. Do your best in this life but don't get trapped in the delusion that by "self-effort" we will create..."Heaven On Earth". It just won't happen.:)

How do all the millions constantly born deformed, dying of starvation and disease, etc. fit into all of this since they are either too busy suffering, dying, or barely surviving and don't have the luxury to get philosophical, study scriptures, pick an Organized Religion, find out or hear about Jesus, etc... you know, the ones who can't "help themselves" to "thwart the enemy?"

Many people of faith suffer, are dying with cancer, disease, and go through pain. What will you do without faith should you suffer or experience a sudden deformity? What does Darwin have to offer to those who are born with sickness and disease? Nothing has changed since Adam and Eve. Death, disease and struggle continues on. There are many sad situations in this life. A Christian looks beyond this life to the One who is accuainted with grief and has also experienced pain, suffering, persecution and eventual death.

I hear you, I just don't get all the suffering, starving, deformity, and dying of babies and kids that don't get to pick or think about Christianity.  I don't get what sense all this animal-like suffering is for those who are too young to know faith or any other reasoning about it.  They don't get to hear about Christ due to age or their part of the world, or to be a Christian who can look beyond anything.

All the suffering, starving, deformity, is a direct result of sin. God created a perfect world. Humans brought the sin into it. Therfore we must suffer the result of it.

Sad isn't it? There is an appointed day that all of this will end. I look forward to that time. :)

You seriously believe that babies born in torturous pain or diseased, etc. are justified or due to someone "sinning" thousands of years ago?  I need to exit this thread now because I find that beyond reason, offensive, and disturbing.  Babies and children must suffer daily and horribly because someone "sinned" before they were born.  Got it.  I don't believe ANY reasonable person is expected to believe that if their baby was born today tortured in pain from deformities or genetic problems, that "well, what did I expect - someone did sin in the past, you know."

My Chrisitan neighbors get the tortured child but the other neighbor doesn't.  I guess the "sin from the past punishment" is not only unbelievable, it's random and crazy.

Cause & Effect. Isn't that science? You agree with the law if it has good consequences only?
