I just can't handle this babies born tortured in pain, children suffering, not of their own fault, etc. is AOK because someone ate a fruit before there were cavemen.

I was just looking at my kids and got fired up. Like I said, I am better off out of this thread.

It's a tough one. It's also Cause & Effect. Isn't that science? You agree with the law of Cause & Effect if it has good consequences only?

After all, isn't the apple episode an allegory for Eve (or woman) discovering her sexuality and prompting Man to find his? If that's punishable, then the human race wouldn't have existed very long would it? Anyway, back to the OP...Do you think it's possible that god may have encouraged the new agey type movement as way to make humankind take responsibilty for themselves? Lessen the hatred out there? Promote kindness and tolerance? Surely he wouldn't allow it to happen if he didn't like the effects it's having. Besides, if I were god, I'd want people to learn and become better through independant growth, and not relying on me to sort out their mistakes all the time. Does this make sense?

Just because the equation of someone's past sin = tortured baby can be described as "cause & effect" it doesn't change my view of that whole unbelievable notion. Sinning adults = tortured baby is not within the realm of approaching acceptability no matter how charming the package is crafted. It's beyond absurd to me to think God would have little babies and children in horrible pain and suffering because someone did something in the past, nevermind ate fruit. It's direct and obvious evidence that story isn't true or of God. Basically what it boils down to is....If you truly believe in Jesus, and Heaven, you can handle all this crap because you know 1. they are now in a good place, and not here suffering anymore. 2. Since you know what's to come, you know you're going to see them again in better times, so you have a sense of Peace. Is that what you're trying to say. There's nothing we can do about a lot of this, so just deal with it the best you can, but have peace within, because of the above reasons? Got it, but putting it into effect is very hard! I can see where one has to be very knowledgeable of the Bible, and or have a lot of blind faith.

Foxgloves, i really liked what you said, its an impossible truth to handle. My sister had a child who died at age 8 months, where is the heavenly justice inthat. what sin did he commit to deserve it. I just have to know all things will be answered when we reach heaven. I don't see the big picture, God does, and i have to put my faith in that. As hard as it is at times.
