Great car...Did you ever ask them if you were also conceived in that car?  No disrespect intended, but those cars had a way of making us kids adventurous. :bigwink:

Couldn't help but post to this one.

Back in my High school days, A kid named Ronnie Shaffer got a brand new car for his 16th birthday. The car was a Shelby Cobra Roadster. His dad had more money than sense.

Anyway, Ronnie loved the car, but was scared to death of it. So one night a bunch of us were at the local drive in, and a guy from out of town wanted to race Ronnie. Ronnie looked at me and asked me if I'd drive it for him, well I jumped at the chance. So we piled in (Ronnie went along for the ride) and drove out to our local race spot.

I gotta tell ya, when I lit the fuse on that sucker I thought someone exploded a bomb under us. The ONLY thing I know of that's more fun than that car is sex. LOL!

For the next 2 years until I left for service, everytime Ronnie had a race lined up he called me and I drove for him. Those memories will stay with me forever.

I loved my 71 Jag-XKE that uesd to corner like it was on rails. Once at 2am I took it out on I95 & ran that beauty up to 131pmh for about 5 seconds. The clock went upto 160, but I caved at 131! At 131, surroundings just blurred by, & didn't want to get ticket!

I loved my 73 Stingray Vette, that also used to corner extremely well, and was exceptionally fast off the line & make your head snap back. Turned many heads when it passed by.

The fastest car I ever owned was my 58 Ford custom, "sleeper". It had a 3/4 race police intercepter engine, in a plain "custom" body.  It was never beaten off the line, or in the 1/4 mile during the entire year I owned it! The looks on those 427 Chevy owners faces when they lost, was. . . . . . . .  priceless!

Believe it or not mine was a 1983 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme.

I bought it off of my uncle for $100 with a BPO 260 c.i.d in it and over 200,000 miles.  The body and interior were mint but the engine was tired and using about a quart of oil with every tank of gas.  In the mean time a buddy of mine had an old Camaro with a  350 in it and got rear ended totalling the car.  So he sold me the drivetrain for $500.  Well I was 16 and a gearhead and cutting 20-30 lawns a week gave me plenty of play money.  Next thing you know that little 350 turned into a 383 stroker motor breathing through a Weiand Team G dual ram with twin Holley 550 double pumpers into some Edelbrock heads.  A nice shift kit and kevlar discs in the trans.  Then a new rear pig with a 456 Detroit Locker.  It took some ingenuity, some welding, some imagination, and a lot of bandaids, and even a few stitches but she was a thing of beauty.  She was street legal too, but with that rear end you didn't want to take her on the freeway.  Anything over 55-60 and it was screaming too loud to hear yourself think.
