I guess mine would have to be a 70ish Nova (my cousin's)

it did the 1/4 mile in 8.5 (roughly) :D

He only drove it on the roads maybe 6x's a year.

I think it would be my old 1969 Camaro SS-396. Added some goodies to it, and got into the high 13s in the quarter mile. Put a street gear in her and topped at 152 mph on the highway south of town.

Loved them old cars, too bad that they are not as fast as some of the newer cars. Still rather have what you had over any of the new stuff.

My 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP (supercharged V6 3800) ran a high 12 in the 1/4 mile

Ferrari F430 0 - 60mph in 3.5 seconds.

But the most fun was driving a 1960's Jaguar E-type around Silverstone.

The winning stock car (a Chevy) of the Talladega races in about the 1985-87 vintage.

It was a retired stock car -- made street legal afterwards (barely)

I ran it up to about 179 mph on a straight stretch of I-85.

Drove it a little faster than that at the Charlotte motor speedway earlier that day.

It just didn't want to turn anything but rightwards, for some strange reason :D

I don't recall the exact details of the engine --

It didn't have great takeoff though--- just an INCREDIBLE top end ---

Took a few hundred yards to get going, but once you hit that 80mph point, it basically jumped out from under me and sailed up through about 150mph in just about two and a half seconds- I felt like someone had lit a rocket in the back end..

great acceleration at high speed is what those cars are made for..

A 1966 Chevy Impala Convertible with a 396.  That car was almost a freak.  We'd take it out on an open road and let her rip.  We'd bury the speedometer needle at 150 and it would still be winding out.  We never topped it out.  We got too scared.  My boyfriend said at that speed it felt like the wheels were floating and he was afraid he'd lose control.  If he had...they could have hosed us off the pavement.  God watches over young children and fools.

I had some of the best times of my life in that car.  It looked like this, only dark green.  It was originally dark blue, but he painted it my favorite color.

My 1969 307 Camaro had a balnced and blueprinted "team" (singed by some guy but I can't remember who) engine that came with 300 hp stock.  The thing was so fast I could make it to the next intersection before other people even crossed the first one.  Here is a pic of it:

 The car I have been driving since 1973 my Camaro 350. Pure power, you put you foot on the gas and it is like a ground rocket even now it can pass most anything on the road. :heartbeat:
