Gremlins are hideous, and Pacers are in the same league. Shiroh, isn't the one you posted a V8 version (raised hood)? That would be a nice little hot rod. An ugly hot rod, but nonetheless. I don't think Pintos were very appealing either.

I like the coupe version of the Volvo Amazon, but the 4-door is indeed homely.

Yep, in 1978 AMC introduced a V8 into their uglimobile. I like the orange paint with faux wood sides-- it's about as '70s as you can get. I liked my friend's neighbor's metallic purple Pacer wagon with chromed wire wheel covers, also. It was so ugly it could make people throw up.

It was either this or the Citation, but the Chevette wins due to the faux wood grain panelling.



You really had to see this car in person to appreciate the hidiousness.

What I remember about the 70s and early 80s - Nixon, Ford, Carter, 20% inflation, oil embargoes and cars that would make you laugh for the ugliness (as long as you didn't own them...).

Back in the late sixties I used to own one of these UGLY beauties. It's a 53 Renault CV4, mine was gray! It had front suicude doors, that almost got my 4 year old son killed when he was sitting in the front seat & just lunged at the door handle & it swung open as I was going about 50mph. (just about top speed, as all it had was an "18hp" engine in it) Luckily I grabbed his arm and stopped him from being pulled out onto the road!
