Hi, Everyone.

I found this video linked from Slashdot.  It's an interesting concept.  The car doors actually bend out, rather than being separate pieces, and the headlights open like eyes.  It's just a concept at this point, but what a concept!

That's fun!  Thanks for posting that Brian!  It makes me think of all kinds of questions.  The actual frame of the car would have to be very smooth, would it not?  What's directly under that fabric?  Did you see how it opened  the hood?  Amazing!  How would you keep it clean I wonder.  Fabric as opposed to medal would be a lot harder to remove oil spots, road grease, any kind of dirt!  If you got in a wreck, would you have to remove all the skin, or just cut and patch?  It's interesting but........I'm not so sure it's necessary or that I'd feel safe actually.  I'd sure like to take a close look.  Really touch and see how the fabric is affected with all the bending and scrunching.  Would it tend to wrinkle after much use of the same motion??  It's fun to look at..........

Hi, Fox.

I assume the skin would have to be stain resistant.  That only makes sense, after all.

The interesting thing that they didn't show was, what's the mechanism for opening the hood?  In the video, the hood just parts like the Red Sea.  I assume that means there's some kind of latch or button inside the car.

The other question I had:  Does this mean someone could break into your car with a simple pocketknife, theoretically?

Maybe they used the material from the Roswell crafts for this thing.

:lmao: Well I'm sure there's a ton of medal mechanics under that material!!  I want to know what's directly under it!  You can't have it that smooth over medal because there has to be creases and lines and bumps for all the openings and latches etc.  How on earth do they cover all that??
