We've had everything but an Auto Forum....until now.

Sweet!

While I'm no expert, I've done my fair share of wrench twisting. I learned on the old cars (50's-70's) so the modern electronic stuff throws me but I can still do a mean brake job. :bigwink:

Here's my pride and joy:

Still has the original engine: 216 straight 6.

It's a 1952 Chevrolet Fleetline (aka Torpedo or Fastback). It was the last year Chevy built them. This one was made in Oakland, CA. It has a 3-speed standard transmission and a 6-volt electrical system.

Here's a shot of the interior before:

And one after:

I no sooner got it back from the paint shop and the rear freeze plug started leaking. Being it's behind the flywheel, I had to pull the engine/trans to replace it. Not the most fun thing in the world to do but I got it done. Here's a picture of it out.

A pretty basic motor but she cleaned up real nice. I replaced the exterior gaskets and the rear main seal while it was out just to be safe.

I do, & like to rotate the tires, change out the battery when needed, replace burned out bulbs, replace anternators & or serpintine belt(s), brake pads. Basically, if you can see it & get at it, I can work on it. And of course, last but not least, I like to "wash, wax, & shine" my ride! ::shades::

Here's my car.  She's a 2000 Hyndai Sonata GLS.  Runs like a dream and very rarely has any problems.  The only problem I've had since I bought her is the oxygen intake sensor, and Hyundai fixed it under the warranty and then also for free when they recalled it for the same reason.

I especially like driving her now with my new tires, which are Goodyear Assurance Triple Tred.  Also, she's in my favorite color.  ::nsmile::  Rides like a dream. :cloud9:

I posted this in 2 spots now. I love old cars my first car was a 1950 Chevy, then an 54 Chevy, then a Covair, then a Datsun 510 box car. I bought the Camaro in 1973 have driven it almost every day since I bought. I have also own an 1972 Cadillac Seville like floating on a cloud, 1965 Pontiac Tempest(GTO wanna be). Not much for new cars as a whole they have no flare to them and no CHROME, what a shame.

::bshake:: Oh boy a CAR forum great idea here is my baby. I'm the original owner of this 1973 Camaro 350 still has the original engine and just about everything else is still original as well. She has 218,000 miles on her and can still blow by anyone on the freeway.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up worn out screaming what a ride..

Right, this site has needed a car forum from day one, and I'm extremely glad Shimmy has stepped up to the plate. I LOVE cars and will be here a lot.

Carla, nice Camaro - wow, original owner! That's not too common to find, and I bet you turn down offers all the time to sell it.

:giantgrin:1Jester I sure do, I wish I got as much attention as my Car does. I have taken good care of her my Dad taught me how to work on her, which isn't to hard at all. Some day I will park her and get a Honda I guess. I would like to have her brought back to pristine band new once again. :bigwink:

I had a 73 Monte in perfect original condition; got it back in 1989 as my college car.  It had an electric sunroof and swivel buckets.  I loved that car to death.  In 1994 I bought a VW to keep the miles down on the Monte, and guess what?  It was parked in my driveway and because I didn't use it as my daily driver, it was stolen.  So please don't let your Camaro suffer the same fate.

::thumbs:: 1Jester thanks for the information. I actually have a Car port that I keep her in that if I don't drive her much, I take the battery out and cover her. There have been several attempts to take her but no luck. I have an alarm, kill switch, club and all my neighbors keep and eye on her. Funny thing is they have to take part more than the actual car. I would be broken hearted if she ever did get taken, this car has been more loyal to me than many friend have. :bigwink:
