The best car I've ever owned is a 1973 Monte Carlo Sport, which I purchased from the second owner in March 1989. It had 104,000 miles on it and was still in mint original condition. It was dark green inside and out, with a full beige vinyl roof. It came with a 350 mated to a 350TH transmission, driving a 2.73:1 open differential. I don't know if it had the special handling package, but it did have the anti-sway bar in the rear. Additionally, it was a column shift car, with swivel bucket seats and no console, and had the optional sport guage package and electric sunroof.

The reason I feel it was the best car of many that I've owned is that it was extremely reliable, breaking down only once when the timing chain fell off, necessitating an engine rebuild. The car never failed to start, even in extreme conditions, ranging from -30F to over 100F, and it drove hard, quiet, solid and comfortable. Even after a full day of highway crusing, I would step out feeling completely refreshed, in stark contrast to many other cars I've owned. Moreover, it offered style, safety and speed. The driving environment was superb, far superior to any other old American car I've ever owned or driven (which is probably why Motor Trend chose it as its 1973 Car of the Year, because of the revised steering geometry). It was a tremendous pleasure to drive and own.

Unfortunately, I made the decision to buy another daily driver in 1994, and consequently it was targeted for theft, and disappeared from my driveaway one fine day in June 1994, never to be recovered. I still own it, but possession is 9/10ths. What a sad loss, because it was an extremely rare car.

Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. -Matthew 22:37-39

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up worn out screaming what a ride..

1) My current 2003 Infiniti M45. It looks like a box, but when you step on the accelerator it takes off like a scalded cat. I need to find a stretch of highway I can use to open it up and see how it rides at 100+ MPH.

2) My 1996 Infiniti G20. It never gave me any problems, had decent pep, and got good gas mileage. I drove it when I was courting my wife through our 7th year of marriage. We took it to Oregon, Kings Canyon National Park, and all over.

3) My 1985 Toyota GT-S. That was my first Japanese-made rear wheel drive car, and it was a hoot to drive. Yee-haw! After coming out of an 85 hp car, it felt like a sports car (I think it had 115 hp).

4) 1968 Dodge Dart. It was built like a tank. The neighborhood dipwad (who used to tease one of my jr. high's retarded kids continually) rear ended me when I was driving home from high school one day. He was riding a 10-speed bike at the time, and the impact rolled him over my trunk and onto the street. It was a thing of beauty.

1980 Suzuki 450GS.  My motorcycle, naturally.  It's in pieces now and I'll never ride it again even if it does get fixed, but that was the most fun, fastest, craziest ride of my life.

Aw hell, I'm not in the Biker forum, am I??  :lmao:

This, and still have her!  (1982 seriesIII ex military lightweight Landrover - 2.25 petrol))
Evverything hooks off (windscreen folds down or comes right off, roof either hard or soft top (soft top can be just top as sun protection without sides etc, or off totally  and either door 'tops' simply lift off, or the whole doors.  She's brilliant and goes ANYWHERE!

Heck, haven't got her photo on this PC,  Will have to send photo when next on laptop.

Number one has to be my bike - CBR600 in eyeball melting pink!

My fave car so far has to be the Mazda MX3. Man, that car had so go in it and the handling was awesome, it stuck to the road like sh1t on a rabbit's bum. Sadly it needed so much work when it came to MOT time that it wasn't worth keeping it.
