Per LM's request, thought I'd post some "eye candy"... I really enjoy surfing the net and seeing what others find with metal detectors.  These are some pictures of my "one year totals" and some other favorite finds.

Hope you all enjoy these.  If you have questions about any of the specific finds, I'll try to provide a quick "write up" about the item.

Thanks. The ring in the first pic is actually CZ :(

The most valuable thing I've probably found was a man's wedding band with 7 diamonds (tested and... = they're the real deal) Found on the beach actually during a storm. I was out there with a parka, rain was moving sideways, but with all the things showing up in my beach scoop, I didn't want to leave. Here's a pic of the ring, along with another one found that day (but the 2nd one was CZ plus a ruby).

Yes. These are things I've found.

Best places? Hmmm... depends on what you consider the best finds. I like the super old things like relics and coins, but my wife loves it when I bring home gold.

The beach is probably the best place for jewelry (but I still find some in ball fields).

Old home sites or travel stops (i.e. trading posts) are the best places I've detected for the old stuff.

I'm really superglad to have you here, Rick. As you can see, this is still a pretty tiny corner of the 'Net, but your presence here makes it all the better!

I plan to look at "Riccar's Greatest Hits" when I get home.

I'm making this post from work, and the server here blocks all "online communities" (including 24), so it's difficult to get in here- I have found a few chinks in the armor and now know how to read some stuff and see PMs by coming in through my little mousehole, but because our company server gods see Photobucket as an "online community", all your pics are red-X. I'll be able to see all when I log on from home, though.

Good lord, Rick, you blow me away with that Seated stuff.  You pretty much blow me away with all of it.  I remember the 1867-S half and the 1796 Spanish real.  The Phoenix buttons have always made me envious.

Jerry- that is a LOT of gold!  Do you have a gold coin, yet?  I forget.  You've sure got a ton of rings!

I'm really glad you guys are here to jazz up the place, since my own finds, while respectable, don't always have that "eye candy" factor.

Marbles are coincidental finds while digging, or surface finds, when you're on a "nekkid dirt" site (bare earth, in other words).  Some of the California guys like to refer to this as "Demo Digging", since they hunt demolition sites.  We have a similar strategy here, though most often the bulldozing here is done for construction, not demolition.
