You had to click on this, didn'tcha?  Heh.

Well, as promised, here's a picture of my wife's big pair of melons.  Would I lie to you?

She grew 'em out in the back lot this summer!  Purty, ain't they? ::sgrin::

Thing is, we never got 'round to cutting and eating them.  They've been sitting forlornly on the kitchen floor for a month or two.  Probably past their prime by now.

What to do, what to do... ?

Hmmm...

It would be a pity to waste two such lovely homegrown beauties, but they're probably not very good eating by now.  Overripe, I'd expect.  I suppose I could give 'em to the neighbor to use as archery targets, or drop them off the top of the lighthouse.  But who'd wanna carry them up all those steps?

Aha!  I know!

See, we didn't have any pumpkins in the garden this year, and I forgot to buy one, so our daughter won't have a jack-o-lantern, unless we go with a plastic one...

OR...

...why not a JACK-O'-MELON, instead!!!

Hey, why not?  It could work... maybe.

As it happens, it did!

And since today, October 30th, is my wife and I's eighth wedding anniversary, the back can be decorated, too...

(The backside is a little lame, I admit...

that's supposed to be a heart around the initials, but it didn't quite work out right.)

Lights out for the final test.  Yeah, baby.

It worked!

C'mon, admit it.  This thread might not have been as exciting as you'd hoped, but it's ... uhmm... seasonal, right?  ::sgrin::

Oh, in case you're wondering, I screwed up the other one while attempting to carve it.

But I salvaged half of it, so my daughter will be able to have a demi-melon to design, which I can carve for her.

...and an overripe watermelon is MUCH easier to scoop out and clean than a pumpkin.  Not so stringy.  I just used an ice cream scoop.  Of course, the trashcan full of slop weighed a heckuva lot more.

Bonus pics!

Here is Victoria, posing with the Jack-O-Melon she designed.

Lights out!

And now, some stray, orphaned photos taken recently, which didn't really fit in with anything else.

Live oaks and cedar trees with spanish moss, at Gascoigne Bluff, where I've been out metal detecting lately.  (And the spot where we had our wedding reception dinner eight years ago today.)

A groovy-lookin' sunset sky near home.  Autumn sunsets and skies are spectacular here in the Golden Isles... this picture does NOT do it justice.

There are those who see and don't.

Look at your words and what you are calling for...and if you where a good Husband that would never be an issue.

but I undestand the "JOKE"...but we are running out of time for such things.

Robo.... I don't believe you... I really don't...

I cannot BELIEVE you posted this tripe in THIS thread of all places...

You are going to die a broken and unhappy man, I guaranteee it.

You're easily THE most negative personality I've ever met...

Why doesn't the love and joy of Jesus Christ fill your heart to SUCH a degree that you CANNOT be anything other than happy and joyful to all around you?
