Well while in brownwood today i found a fossil of a small shell imbedded in a piece of limestone

Yeah limestone is a good source for fossils

Interesting. It looks like a cast. (Not a replica, I mean, but rather the impression left in the matrix by a fossil or shell).

We get quite a lot of this sort of stuff in the dredge spoil material here, but that shouldn't be quite as surprising, since we're on a coastal area.

PS- another random thought...

I often find shells and stuff like that when I'm in the fossiiferous soil that produces those nice shark teeth. Where there are shells, there are often other marine fossils. I wonder how long it'll be before you turn up a shark tooth?
