Well i live near a earthen drainage ditch which has lots of fossils and flint within the soil and each time it rains the flint and fossils are exposed

Yesterday we had 2 inches of rain so now that the top layer of soil is gone the fossils are exposed

that's the only plus living near a earthen drainage ditch

Yeah

 since most of the drainage ditch has a limestone shelf embedded within the banks fossils are many and some are laying about in plain view

so fossil hunting is pretty easy excepts when it rains, then i have to wait for the water to drain before looking
