i used to go out diving all the time with my best friend Pam, and her husband, Rick. Rick got drunk every time we went out. i would check the gas at the dock and it would be low, and he would INSIST there was enough. i cannot tell you the times we had to call seatow ::frown::...WHEN the damn radio was working. ::radioguy::

so the last straw was one day we went out for a day diving molasses reef, and he was so drunk that there was no way we were getting back. no ship-to-shore, no tools, no gas. i put on my SCUBA gear and literally towed the boat back on my back! while Rick swayed on the flying bridge drunk as a skunk. i almost lost my friend over it, the minute we got to dock i got in my car and swore i'd never go out with them again. and i never did.

I once had occasion to take exception to one of our charter captains, strangely he was also named Rick. Must be something about the name.::drinkitup:: I had a boat full of advanced students one fine day and away we went with Rick driving the boat.

We completed the dive on a wreck and started back. Now rick was too busy staring at the euro boobs (they tend to remove their tops) and didn't notice that I fell and went overboard at 30 knots. In fact he didn't even notice until he got back to the dock that he had lost me. I floated for a couple hours before I got picked me up, I was fortunate that I hadn't had time to remove my wetsuit before I went over. Everything loose on me got stripped including my glasses and dive watch. At that speed you tumble across the water before sinking, very disorienting.

I finally found my way back to the shop and his brother met me at the door to talk to me first. I was all smiles as Rick walked up to me to apologise and I punched him dead in the face and fired him.

Sorry about your friend Rick. I hope his inner side was remembered and his family can see past what he turned into and not his weak side. Most alchoholics cannot see the forest for the tree's...............until it's a little to late.

Driving a boat and driving a car is the same same. I hope L.C. for your sake you can remember Rick with a smile, remember he is gone. and that is done.........sad news indeed.:aww:

thanks. i am still sad over what he did. he was fascinated with my guns. he went out and bought  one without his wife knowing. he stuck it in his mouth and pulled the trigger. but i like to remember him as a funny guy who adopted my parrot.
