a Book called the Smithsonian Collection of newspaper comics?

The book has newspaper comics from the 1890's up to the 1970's

Batman, dick tracy, Bear creek folks, terry and the pirates , flash gordon and many others are included in the 336 pages

the book was made in 1977

A very interesting look at  newspaper comics

Edited by Bill Blackbeard and Martin williams

Foreword by John Canaday

Well  the book has some well known and not so well known comics strips in it, and many comic strips in the book aren't even made anymore.

but the book gives one a look at the old newspaper comics from a bygone age

Wow !

Certainly looks like a treasure for any serious comic book fan out there.

I'm not familiar with some of the characters mentioned but Batman, Flash Gordon and Dick Tracy ?
